In NC, we operate three pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities that are responsible for fulfilling different steps in our injectable and oral treatment supply chains. Our Emerging Technologies - Oral Finished Products facility in Durham, NC is a 194,000 square foot tableting and packaging facility that supports the production of our innovative oral treatments for patients with type 2 diabetes. The Position

Calibrate measuring equipment on schedule & in accordance with corporate & local requirements.  Provide troubleshooting, problem solving & project support for measuring equipment site wide. Assist the Site Metrology lead in establishing the OFP DU Metrology program is in alignment with both the corporate & OFP standards.

Supervisor, Maintenance – OFP.

 

Essential Functions

Calibrates & repairs instrumentation such as; temperature, pressure, conductivity, humidity, pH, TOC, flow, dimensional, rotational, & mass measuring equipment Accurately performs complex mathematical calculations relating to calibrations Configures SAP maintenance plans, scheduling & task lists in accordance with approved specifications Reviews documentation for accuracy & completeness & performs Technical Completion (TECO) of work orders in SAP Owns Change Requests (CRs) & CR actions as assigned Accurately & legibly records all activities in appropriate documentation. Releases &/or completes work orders as required Reviews documentation for accuracy & completeness Support equipment owners in all aspects related to instrumentation (cal specs, problem solving, instrument selection, failure investigation) Attains & maintains required site operation & safety certifications Maintains training qualifications on time Identifies & handles deviations &/or failures per proper procedures Performs failure investigations (non-conformities) related to Metrology/Calibration process Provides support to process owners for measuring equipment Executes work according to schedule & department plan Evaluates measuring equipment performance & responds to potential issues Contributes to KPI reporting Supports training others as required Other accountabilities, as assigned

 

Physical Requirements

Moves equipment &/or supplies weighing up to 33 pounds within the facility using various body positions. Routinely operates & inspects manufacturing equipment using hands. Ability to be on feet for up to a 12-hour shift. May require corrected vision to 20/25 based on role. May require color vision based on role. Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder. May be required to work at elevated heights. Occasionally works around odorous &/or hazardous materials. May be required to wear latex gloves. Occasionally performs critical job functions in extremely cold work environments. Occasionally positions oneself within confined spaces for inspection, repair & maintenance of equipment. Ability to work in loud noise environments with hearing protection. Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions. Able to pass a driving exam for powered industrial trucks. Does not require a valid drivers license.

 

Qualifications

Education: Associate's degree in relevant field or equivalent combination of education & experience, which includes a thorough understanding of calibration, instrumentation & control systems required Minimum of three (3) years of relevant metrology/calibration work experience or education preferred Minimum of three (3) years of thorough understanding of instrumentation & control systems preferred Experience in preparing technical instructions/procedures preferred Calibration of process & utility instrumentation preferred Experience using electronic calibration management systems such as SAP, Blue Mountain RAM, ProCal, MAXIMO, etc preferred Working knowledge of SAP, PM & QM modules or similar asset management or quality sub-systems required Ability to read & apply schematics, wiring diagrams & other technical documents preferred Experience in dry product/tableting processes & supporting clean utilities systems preferred Working knowledge of Word & Excel software applications preferred Demonstrate a high level of organization in task management preferred Demonstrate logical planning for task execution & follow-up preferred Demonstrate a systematic approach to problem solving & troubleshooting preferred Document problems thoroughly & accurately & brings them rapidly to solution required
