Metal Prep Technician is responsible for preparing metal surfaces for coating or finishing using various chemical processes. This position requires a strong understanding of chemical properties, safety protocols, and metalworking processes.
Schedule: Weekend shift Friday through Sunday 5:00am to 5:30 pm
In this role, a typical day will look like:
Will finish process material coming from fabrication. Tumbling, Anodize, Spinning, Rule Die, Acrylic tumbling, deburring, assembly, and all other jobs required by management.Must be comfortable working with chemicals.Maintain quality of products produced according to department standards and visual or dimensional specifications.Record and maintain Cell Boards and other visual management toolsComply with company safety policies including safe operation of equipment, PPE usage, hand tool safety, lock-out-tag-out, and proper storage of tools, etc. Comply with good housekeeping policies.Maintain equipment according to work instructions or preventive maintenance tasks; some trouble-shooting of equipment.Suggest improvements and support kaizen and VES activities.May operate several production machines or operations simultaneouslyReport complicated equipment malfunctions to mechanics.May be responsible for handling of and accurate disposal of chemical and non-chemical waste, some of which is hazardous and regulated.Maintain visual management of part and raw material storage, clean and organized work area.Work with Planner and Manager to prioritize workload and equipment schedule to meet both internal and external demand.Assist in design, implementation and problem solving of new equipment and products.OTHER NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Metal Surface Preparation: Use chemical processes to clean, etch, or treat metal surfaces in preparation for coating, painting, or other finishing processes.Chemical Handling: Mix and apply chemical solutions (such as acid baths, phosphating, or other treatments) in accordance with established procedures to ensure proper surface treatment.Inspection: Monitor and inspect metal surfaces to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols when handling chemicals and performing metal preparation tasks. Follow proper disposal methods for chemicals and waste products.Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and operate chemical bath systems, cleaning equipment, and other metal preparation tools.Documentation and Reporting: Record and document chemical usage, metal prep processes, and quality checks for regulatory compliance and production tracking.Collaboration: Work closely with other departments (such as quality control, coating, and production) to ensure seamless workflow and product quality.Will finish process material coming from fabrication. Tumbling, Anodize, Spinning, Rule Die, Acrylic tumbling, deburring, assembly, and all other jobs required by management.The essential requirements of the job include:
High school diploma or equivalent (additional technical training or certifications in chemical processing or metalworking is a plus).Previous experience in metal preparation or a similar manufacturing environment is preferred.Knowledge of chemical safety protocols and handling procedures. Must be comfortable working with chemicals. Comply with company safety policies including safe operation of equipment, PPE usage, hand tool safety, lock-out-tag-out, and proper storage of tools, etc. Comply with good housekeeping policies.Ability to follow detailed instructions and standard operating procedures.Basic mechanical aptitude for operating and maintaining preparation equipment.PRE-EMPLOYMENT TESTING

The hourly rate for this role is $20.90 - $21.95 This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Colorado. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus pay.
