The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Talk Operational Specialist conducts mental health evaluations of both wounded service members dealing with invisible injuries and their family members, triages them, evaluates whether the WWP Talk program is a match for the warrior’s or family member’s needs, and refers them to other WWP programs as appropriate.

Determine whether the WWP Talk Program is a match for the warrior’s or family member’s needs, and triage and refer them as appropriate. Conduct nonclinical, comprehensive screenings and assess warriors and family support members’ who express interest in Talk and decide whether they are appropriate for and willing to set SMART goals within the program. Serve as subject-matter expert on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other mental health challenges. Monitor WWP Talk program levels and identify opportunities to increase referrals to the program. Provide recommendations to program leadership. Monitor WWP Talk Program queue to ensure program referrals are timely and properly screened. Ensure metrics are tracked properly. Manage a weekly caseload of WWP Talk participants, taking on high priority cases. Provide telephonic emotional support, goal-setting assistance, and education to wounded service members, their caregivers, and their families participating in the WWP Talk program. Evaluate participant’s needs and refer to appropriate WWP programs and community mental health resources. Document in Salesforce the details of the conversations with WWP Talk participants following each session. Prepare weekly briefings and reports including compiling, organizing, and updating status reports regularly. Respond to all inbound contacts via phone and email, and update leadership. Maintain current knowledge of relevant mental health best practices. Participate in on-going development and training to keep current with WWP Talk program requirements. Responsible for initial engagement within the program and development of rapport to appropriately pair participants with the best teammate based on branch, rank, personality, and availability. Responsible to contact participants and manage teammates schedules on PTO or out of the office unexpectedly- to offer a supportive listening call and updating in WWP electronic tracking system. Assist Talk specialists with rapport building by riding along and providing guidance and support. Establish effective working relationships and work collaboratively with WWP teammates across the country, and with external resources. Brief internal and external agencies on Talk Program and referral process. Monitor and assesses Talk data for capacity, teammate caseloads, and non-responsive participants. Monitor weekly engagements for all participants and ensure they have been enrolled, assigned, and added to scheduler. Develop and encourage a collaborative relationship with warriors to maximize the warrior’s ability to make. informed decisions, utilizing a warrior-centric model, within organizational parameters and serve as the WWP Talk point of contact, following up with warriors throughout their time in program and beyond. Coordinate warriors’ support and care through one or more internal WWP programs and/or with external organizations, e.g., Centerstone, eHome, to address various levels of participants’ needs and facilitate the recovery process. Develop a comprehensive understanding of external resources, treatment options, mental health diagnosis, medical needs, and treatment programs. Provide transition support with programmatic referrals to WWP programs. Provide feedback to Program leadership on process improvement and system needs. Five years of adult focused mental health programming or case management experience working with and providing support to individuals who are dealing with invisible injuries, e.g., brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder, etc. Three years of experience in a mental health treatment setting conducting intakes, providing diagnostic assessments, crisis screening, and psychosocial assessments.Preferences

For Washington State Applicants: The estimated hiring range for this position is between $75,219 - $94,024 annual base salary, subject to a candidate’s combination of experience, qualifications, and credentials. This position may also be eligible for an annual performance incentive.
