Job Description:

The Medical Waste Technician performs a variety of responsibilities inherent to the collection, transport, packaging, disposal and/or destruction of multiple waste streams in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations.

Removes waste products from designated collection points throughout the Center. Properly segregates waste and transports to designated areas for destruction, disposal or shipment. Mechanically operates the trash compactor and the cardboard compactor. Cleans equipment and notifies supervisor of equipment or other items needing repair. Properly packages, labels and prepares medical waste for removal from the Center as required by state and federal regulations. Maintains all collection sites in a sanitary manner minimizing the risk for biological contamination. Performs work in accordance with established quality standards.
