Description:Saint Francis Hospital & Medical Center, Hartford CT $4,000 sign-on bonus

We're looking for an experienced Medical Technologist to join our team! You would develop, implement, coordinate and maintain programs in order to bring testing closer to the patient, to provide faster turnaround times for treatment, and to maintain compliance with regulatory agencies.

What you will do:

Establishes and monitors quality control/quality assurance (QC/QA) programs involving POC testing. Ensures compliance with accreditation agencies and federal regulations. Spearheads biannual CAP site surveys for POC testing.

Provides all POC training for patient care providers, including initial instruction and yearly validation.  Maintain records and a data base for competency.

Develops policies and procedures related to POC testing. Investigates, procures and disseminates information regarding manufacturer guidelines and federal, and CAP regulations.

Evaluates requests for new POC testing, including feasibility study of clinical necessity and cost impact. Presents findings and cost analysis to Lab administration for approval. Establishes criteria for vendor bidding and collaborates with Supply Chain Department to develop and negotiate contracts.

Promotes a continuous learning environment by providing education and guidance to physicians and staff as required. Participates in continuing education whenever possible.

Develops POC audits and other QA indicators ensuring that the program meets Quality guidelines.

Performs other related duties as assigned. 

Position Hours:

24 hours, Day Shifts, rotating wknds/holidays

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or clinical laboratory science required.

ASCP, CLS or NCA certification required.

Three to five (3-5) years of clinical laboratory experience required.
