Summary This position is located in the Business Office Branch at the Gallup Indian Medical Center in Gallup, NM. The position provides registration and eligibility services which are the key points of interaction with patients to obtain and process demographic and insurance information for alternate resources, contract health services and private/commercial insurance. Perform admission, transfer and discharge transactions. Responsibilities 10/23/2024:This position is being re-announced. Assists patients in completing new or updated forms for the Resource Patient Management System (RPMS) patient registration system. This will include Inpatients, outpatients, emergencies and after hour patients and for ail other clinics. Maintains, key-enters, updates and verifies ail alternate resources data necessary for patient registration and for accurate billing through the use of the RPMS patient registration system and electronic eligibility system. Makes corrections as necessary to improve the patient registration system. Interviews patient to obtain current information to initiate a new health record and communicates back to Medical Records to reactivate a retired/stored record. Enters ail information Into the patient registration system of the RPMS. Initiates required forms for Advance Directives and provides information on Advance Directives as required by the Patient Self-Determination Act of 1990 and NM Uniform Health Care of 1995. Collects payment from non-beneficiaries staff and/or family members for medical services and who are covered under Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) insurance arrangements. Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-04: Successfully complete 2 years above high school -or- Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of general experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. GS-05: Successfully complete 4 years above high school leading to a Bachelor's Degree -or- Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Scheduling and re-scheduling appointments, knowledge of medical terminology, recording information accurately, basic nursing skills, and ability to interview patients. Combining Education and Experience: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements at grades GS-5 and below. GS-4 level positions, determine the applicant's total qualifying experience required for the grade level; then determine the applicant's education as a percentage. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level. For GS-5 level positions only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. This position is covered by a Bargaining Unit. No recruitment or relocation incentives authorized.
