Medical Lab Scientist II
Job Title: Medical Lab Scientist II Pay: $68K-79K (based on experience) Shift: Sunday- Thursday 8am-4:30pm Weekend Differential: 10% on the Weekends.

Job Description

The Medical Lab Scientist II will be responsible for testing assigned specimens on the Day Shift from Sunday to Thursday. The role includes testing and troubleshooting using instruments and procedures in the department. The Medical Lab Scientist II will provide support in quality control, troubleshooting complex problems, customer support, instrument and equipment maintenance, staff training, process improvement, and completing special projects. The position also involves performing and reporting on assigned analytical tests in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), ensuring quality control requirements are met. Compliance with laboratory policies and procedures for specimen handling, processing, test analysis, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results is mandatory.

ResponsibilitiesPerform and report on assigned analytical tests in accordance with SOPs ensuring quality control requirements are met.Support and comply with laboratory policies and procedures for specimen handling, processing, test analysis, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results.Adhere to analytical schedules to maintain turnaround time of results, including STATS or critical results to clients.Ensure reagents/test kits have received dates, expiration dates, and applicable opened dates.Perform and document QC analysis to ensure accuracy of clinical data and proper instrument function.Make quality control decisions regarding the disposition of an assay or test.Escalate problems associated with the proper performance of test procedures appropriately.Report any actual or potential deviations from standard or accepted testing procedures and cooperate fully with investigations.Enter test results into the Laboratory Information System for standardized reports for physician review and interpretation.Adhere to all established CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and laboratory safety requirements.Use personal protective equipment, engineering controls, and work practice controls as directed by management.Answer questions from clients or other lab personnel.Participate in government or regulatory agency inspections.Essential SkillsExperience in Chemistry and Clinical Laboratory environments.Knowledge of CLIA regulations.ASCP or C (ASCP) certification is required.Bachelor's degree in one of the Sciences, preferably in Chemistry or Medical Lab Science.Minimum of 1 year of clinical lab experience, preferably in Chemistry or as a generalist.Additional Skills & QualificationsStrong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues.Excellent customer support and communication skills.Experience in staff training and process improvement.Familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems.Work Environment

The work environment is a clinical lab setting that is very busy with increasing volume. The shift is from Sunday to Thursday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, with a 10% weekend differential.

The pay range for this position is $68640.00 - $79040.00/yr.
