Medical Information Director

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Medical Information will function as the Head of Medical Information and sets the strategic vision of the Medical Information function at Rigel Pharmaceuticals. He/she is responsible for providing leadership for the medical information function as well as the daily operations for responding to medical information inquiries. The Director Medical Information ensures that complete, accurate and unbiased information is provided to internal and external customers. The Director Medical Information provides leadership and direction for the medical expertise of the Promotional Review Committee. The position reports to the Senior Vice President Medical Affairs.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

Responsible for the strategic oversight and management of the medical information function and the medical information call center.Develop and maintain appropriate metrics for effectively monitoring quality and timeliness of all medical information activities.Continue to expand the insights generation capability within medical information.Improve and develop rigorous, succinct, and compliant medical information processes and ensure adherence to such processes. Oversee and implement submission to various compendia, clinical pathwaysDevelop/implement appropriate policies, SOPs, business practices, work instructions; develop strategic initiatives to improve efficiencies and quality outputOversee the use, archiving and dissemination of medical content. Serve as a scientific resource and educator for Rigel Pharmaceuticals.Understand and implement industry leading technology solutions and multi-channel methods of communications with HCPs and patients.Support the development and execution of the medical affairs plan, with particular emphasis on medical information. Responsible for the development, review, and approval of medical information responses and promotional materials.Manage the Medical Information budget. Provides support for national scientific meetings on behalf of the company.Collaborate with QA and PV department to build systems and process to ensure efficient and compliant AE and quality reportingWork with stakeholders to raise awareness of medical information operation and processes within organizationResponsible for the Development of external facing medical information platform for Rigel 


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:  

Ten to fifteen years pharmaceutical industry5-10 years of Medical Information experience requiredAdvanced clinical degree required. (PhD, PharmD, or MD preferred)Excellent communications skills and presentation capabilitiesAbility to collaborate with internal colleagues in clinical, regulatory, drug safety, and medical affairs, and other departments as requiredAbility to inspire a team to excel and foster a positive environment encouraging personal accountability and excitement for the work the team doesAbility to work on multidisciplinary teamsExperience with implementing innovative technology solutions and multi-channel communications (e.g. medical information web-portal)In-depth knowledge of Medical Information Industry guidelines and practices.Current working knowledge of the legal, regulatory and compliance regulations and guidelinesAbility to navigate and be successful in a fast-paced environmentStrong strategic planning, communication and organizational skillsExcellent written and communication skills.Ability to think broadly about medical information and the needs/impact of these medical communications to healthcare providers/patients.Proficiency with computer programs such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Travel will vary, plan on 10-20%.Rigel requires all employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 (subject to any legally required exemptions)
