Medical Coordinator - Swing Shift

POSTION SUMMARY:  

This position is responsible for delivering essential first-aid, emergency medical care to employees in emergencies, as well as facilitating the administration of pre-hire and renewal testing in accordance with regulatory requirements and Vigor’s policies. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assess, administer care, and document injuries/illnesses presented to the Vigor Industrial Medical Clinic. Should possess the skill set to take vital signs, treats wounds, evaluate emergencies, and CPR-AED competent.Assist the on-duty Safety Department with emergencies within the facility.Facilitates the intake of accident reports and coordinating with supervisory / Safety Department to support injury investigations.Performs pre-hire, post-accident or incident, reasonable suspicion or cause drug/alcohol testing.Maintains daily log encounter and the documentation required by Vigor, local, state, and federal agencies.Conducts new hire orientation, new/annual hearing tests, and new/annual respiratory fit-testing.Performs respirator fit testing both initial and refit.Performs hearing conservation testing and maintains records: conducts baseline audiology examinations of employees and follow-up exams as required.Supports Vigor’s safety initiatives through collaboration with other departments.Assists Worker’s Compensation Manager with associated paperwork and updates.Maintains employee medical records in accordance with HIPAA laws.Ensures medical facility is sanitary, organized, and presentable.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None

 

INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS:  

Primary contacts are with the Craft/Hourly workforce, Safety Department, and Human Resources at all levels.

 

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

Must possess the ability to work without direct supervision while managing changing priorities.Ability to multi-task and think systemically to provide required training to employees.Must have solid verbal and written communications skills with an emphasis on providing service.Skill and knowledge of PC and MS Office and other software applications.Knowledge of King County, Multnomah County BLS, preferred.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or GED is required.Two (2) years of experience as an emergency medical technician and/or equivalent experience in an industrial clinic or similar setting as a technician performing occupational health screening preferred.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:  

Advanced First Aid Certification required the minimum and/or Current EMT Certification.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:   

The role is mainly a clinical environment with an occasional response to emergency situations in the shipyard. Must be able to walk to and from job sites in production areas and will occasionally have to climb inclined stairways or vertical ladders; able to enter confined areas/tanks and able to work from heights. Should have the physical ability to lift and carry loads from 50 to 100 pounds. Bending, squat, crawling, and twisting are some of the physical demands the role might encounter. WORK ENVIRONMENT:  

While in production areas employees may be exposed to noise, fumes, dusts, and odors. Training and the use of appropriate PPE is required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
