Medical Billing Specialist
Description We are seeking an experienced Medical Billing/Accounts Receivable (AR) Specialist for an immediate contract or contract-to-hire opportunity. This is a remote position, with a long-term commitment and requires working standard Pacific hours. The ideal candidate will have experience with both commercial and government insurance billing and a strong understanding of the processes and best practices in the medical billing field. Key Responsibilities: + Facilitate payments by resolving disputes and discrepancies with insurance companies. + Maintain accurate records of all patient interactions and payments received to ensure compliance and clear documentation. + Process customer credit applications with precision and efficiency. + Negotiate payment plans or settlements with patients who have unpaid medical bills, ensuring a fair and timely resolution. + Monitor accounts receivable (AR) and proactively follow up on unpaid bills to ensure timely payment. + Post charges, cash receipts, and adjustments to maintain patient accounts and accurate financial records. + Use NIS skills to manage tasks such as posting and saving WA & OR IV Correspondence, translating HME no pays into TIMS, and handling CA IV lockboxes and credit card transactions. Requirements + Minimum 2 years of experience in medical billing, with a focus on both commercial and government insurance. + Strong working knowledge of AR management and insurance claim procedures. + Ability to handle multiple tasks, manage time efficiently, and work independently in a remote environment. + Proficiency in using medical billing software and tools such as NIS, TIMS, and lockbox management. + Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with insurance companies, patients, and internal teams. + Ability to work standard Pacific hours consistently. Preferred Qualifications: + Experience with HME (Home Medical Equipment) and understanding of IV correspondence and related tasks. + Previous experience in negotiating and managing payment plans and settlements.
