Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Faculty Group Practice Medical Assistant Scribe.

In this role, the successful candidate, the Medical Assistant Scribe, is responsible for completing clinical and administrative duties that assist in the delivery of effective patient care within the assigned practice. Under the general direction of the physician for documenting and the Office Manager, the Medical Assistant is responsible for a variety of patient care duties and other related duties in the clinic setting, including patient flow, physician assistance, documenting/recording, telephone calls, and other clerical duties.

Job Responsibilities:

Documents patient orders including laboratory tests, radiology tests, medications, etc.Obtains vital signs, weights, and EKGs when needed, as well as all other tests within the scope of the practice. Assists with blood collection/phlebotomy as needed.Assists patients and communicates with physicians to obtain prescription renewals as needed.Ensures exam rooms and treatment areas are cleaned after each patient leaves and prepared for the next patient. Assists with light housekeeping duties, including cleaning spills.Ensures completion of patient charges as per policy.Assists patients with obtaining food, toileting, ambulating, and maintaining comfort.Assists physicians with procedures (e.g., GI procedures, medical exams).Cleans and sterilizes designated equipment after use.Answers the telephone in the treatment area and assists staff in scheduling treatments.Assists with maintaining patient flow to and from exam rooms and treatment areas. Escorts patients and specimens throughout the facility as needed.Ensures that the chart is available, with relevant lab work and test reports if indicated, for the physician when they see the patient.Stocks exam rooms/treatment rooms with medical supplies, linens, and designated chart forms. Notifies the Office Manager when supplies are low.Performs other duties as assigned.Accompanies the physician into the exam room and transcribes history, including the history of present illness, past medical and surgical history, family and social histories, medications and allergies, physical exam, laboratory and radiologic orders, as dictated by the physician, and documents the physician's encounter with the patient accurately.Lists all proper diagnoses and symptoms, as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions, as dictated by the physician.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify, you must have a current Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited institution upon hire or entry into the position.

Preferred Qualifications:
Previous scribe preferred.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $41,977.18 - $61,523.84 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
