Summary

MEDICAL ASSISTANT OPPORTUNITY RUBIN INSTITUTE FOR ADVANCED ORTHOPEDICS FULL TIME - 8:00am-4:30pm MONDAY - FRIDAY *** AHA BLS Certified, Graduate of accredited MA Program required ***   POSITION SUMMARY: Under direct supervision of a physician, performs a variety of clinical responsibilities to assist in the examination and treatment of patients. Applies various orthopedic equipment, removes sutures and staples, and positions various orthopedic patients for procedures. Performs other functions to support hospital and departmental requirements. Works proactively and in partnership with other staff contributing to effective operations. Delivers service in conjunction with the Hospital’s customer service standards and expectations.   ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Patient Care Services Applies and adjusts casts, splints and braces. Fabricates casts using special materials such as plaster, fiberglass resin and polyethylene. Professionalism/Teamwork Displays a commitment to the value of teamwork by building strong relationships with patients, families, co-workers and the community. Is cooperative and collaborative in the performance of duties as needed to promote a unified workplace. Quality Control Performs duties in compliance with departmental policies and procedures promoting patient and employee safety. Ensures proper maintenance of examination and diagnostic procedure rooms, and equipment/instruments. Professional Development Identifies training and development opportunities for self. Clinical Practice Provides assistance and preparation prior to and during examination by health care providers. Works as a collaborative member of the clinical team to ensure quality services and patient safety. Clerical Performs general clerical duties necessary to support physician office practice. Works in conjunction with other staff members to ensure efficient and effective operation of the office. Communication Displays a commitment to the value of teamwork by building strong relationships with patients, families, coworkers and the community; is cooperative and collaborative in the performance of duties to promote a unified and spirited workplace. Customer/Peer Relations Performs duties and responsibilities to support internal and external compliance standards. Exhibits LifeBridge Health customer service standards and expectations in all aspects of work. REQUIREMENTS: Formal working knowledge; equivalent to an Associate's degree (2 years college); requires knowledge of a specialized field. Experience: 1-3 years.   CERTIFICATIONS: American Heart Association CPR Certification. Graduate of accredited medical assistant program.
