Medical Assistant 3:

Perform advanced administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices of physicians and other health practitioners running smoothly. The duties of MA/Scribes vary from office to office, depending on the location and size of the practice and the practitioner's specialty. They are active and valuable members of their healthcare teams, providing real-time charting for physicians by shadowing them throughout their shifts and performing a variety of helpful tasks. A core responsibility is to capture accurate and detailed documentation (handwritten, electronic, or otherwise) of the encounter in a timely manner. The MA will also accompany the physician and directly observe patient encounters while accurately documenting the events and decision-making in a manner that results in appropriate medical charting. They will also complete the clerical activities necessary to assist with processing of physician’s orders for tests and medications. MA are not permitted to make independent decisions or translations while capturing or entering information into the health record or EHR beyond what is directed by the provider.
