Medical Assistant
Orthopaedic Specialists of Austin is hiring a full-time Medical Assistant in Austin, TX. This position will be responsible for covering other clinic locations in Lakeway and Leander as well. The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting the Physician and/or Physician Assistant. They will provide care following protocols given by the Physician. Job Relationship 1. Reports to Practice Administrator 2. Positions supervised: none 3. Non-Exempt position Qualifications 1. Preferred completion of accredited training program for medical assisting or a combination of education/work experience in the clinical setting of a medical office. 2. 2 years of outpatient clinic experience, orthopaedics preferred. 2. Some experience in bracing (all extremities) Job Knowledge 1. Knowledge of EHR systems 2. MIPS 3. Medical Terminology 4. OSHA 5. Healthcare compliance Skills and Abilities 1. Ability to obtain patient vital signs 2. Cast/DME application and removal 3. Exceptional customer service skills 4. Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow. 5. Strong communication skills Responsibilities 1. Assists in coverage for all clinic locations. 2. Completes reviews for scheduled clinics. 3. Obtains vital signs and brief history related to office visit. 4. Documents patient medical information in EMR. 5. Maintains supplies and performs periodic cleaning as delegated. 6. Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls. 7. Ensure all related reports, labs and information is filed and available in patients’ medical record prior to their appointment. 8. Assists in completion of required medical forms related to patient visit. 9. Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor. Physical Requirements 1. Good visual acuity, hand-finger dexterity, ability to speak and hear. 2. Able to lift and carry in excess of 25 pounds, which may require pushing, pulling and essentially utilizing a full range of body movement. 3.
