Job Description
The Medical Assistant will provide medical services with culturally sensitive care. You will interact with a variety of patients from different socioeconomic levels and ethnic groups. You will provide quality healthcare services to the elderly, families, pregnant women, women’s healthcare, adolescents, and other groups. Additionally, you will follow up on patient messages, prepare patients for medical visits with exams, education, and lab tests, and maintain patient confidence by keeping patient care information confidential.
ResponsibilitiesPrepare patients for visits, taking vital signs and confirming the reason for the visit.Perform basic laboratory waive tests.Utilize computer applications, EHR, scheduling, child profile, documentation, and recording information.Assist providers with examinations.Operate pulmonary equipment, electrocardiograms, vision tests, and audiometers.Explain procedures and after-visit summary instructions to patients.Keep exam rooms neat and clean and prepare treatment rooms for procedures.Clean and sterilize medical instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.Perform general office duties such as answering emails, returning phone calls, and completing forms/letters for the provider.Communicate with providers, co-workers, and patients with respect and cooperation.Arrive on time for scheduled shifts and prepare to perform daily scheduled assignments.Perform other duties as related to the position.Essential SkillsCurrent Active Washington State Medical Assistant Certification.Current BLS/CPR/First Aid certification.Oral and written comprehension, active listening, and speaking skills.Time management, organizational, and critical thinking skills.Ability to work with a variety of providers in appointed and walk-in care.Professional communication and courteous behavior with co-workers and patients.Keeping providers informed of patient location and status.Ability to work as a member of the team and aid co-workers.Completion of non-patient tasks during slow times, such as messages, callbacks, and mail outs.Experience with clinic tasks such as inventorying, stocking, and ordering supplies.Experience working with the unique healthcare needs and social issues facing American Indians/Alaska Natives (AI/AN) and the desire to promote the delivery of appropriate health services.Additional Skills & QualificationsCultural Humility and Commitment to Service - comfortable providing consistent high-quality service to diverse communities.Accountability - dependability on attendance, interviews, communication, and patient care.Knowledge of EMR, EPIC, phlebotomy, and medical terminology.Work Environment
Shift: 8-5, Monday through Friday with occasional extra hours for events or to meet deadlines. Organizational Structure/Reporting Relationships: This position reports directly to the Medical Assistant Supervisor and is a member of the Medical team. This position has no direct reports. The organization utilizes a care team-based model, where the Medical Assistant is assigned to a provider and is responsible for managing the provider's schedule, anticipating their needs, and directing the flow of the day. The care team also includes a nurse care manager, clinical pharmacists, dieticians, traditional Indian medicine practitioners, counselors, and case managers.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00
