Inova Primary Care-Old Town in Alexandria, VA is seeking a passionate Medical Assistant 3 to join their dedicated team of healthcare professionals!

Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant 3 in an ambulatory clinic setting will provide both patient care and administrative duties according to established policies and procedures. Additionally, and in partnership with designated clinic and/or nurse leader, this role will review and evaluate policies, practices, and information to ensure continuous improvement of patient care, operational efficiency, and enhanced outcomes. The Medical Assistant 3 will act as role model and informal leader for other medical assistants by providing clinical expertise, consistently demonstrating Inova’s mission, vision, and values, and promoting an engaged psychologically safe work environment. This role will build strong partnerships with the clinical team inclusive of physicians, Advanced Practice Providers and nurses ensuring effective communication in the coordination of care, updated practices and procedures, operational concerns while promoting a safe and compassionate care for patients.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Team member is required to be proficient in duties outlined in the Medical Assistant 1 and Medical Assistant 2 job profiles. In close partnership with the clinic/nursing leader, will coordinate MA onboarding, which may include precepting, identifying MA deficiencies and continuous training. Lead specialized functions in the clinic such as Epic Champion, Safety Coach, Telemedicine Champion, etc. in accordance to the needs of the specific clinic. Assist clinic leader with patient experience and team member engagement initiatives, process improvement projects, and system quality initiatives. Participate in continuous training, development and demonstrates efficiency in advanced procedures related to the specialty of the clinic. (i.e., vasectomy, colposcopy) Participate in special projects. Lead daily clinical huddles as assigned. Partner with clinic and/or nursing leader to ensure adequate par levels for supplies. Supports additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Experience: 3 years of clinical practice experience (including at least 1 year as Medical Assistant 2 at Inova) Education: High School or GED Certification: Medical Assistant (MA) Certification; Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association Special Skills: Medical terminology proficiency, excellent verbal and written communication skills, point-of-care testing abilities, and vaccination protocol.
