Founded in 1906, McLeod Health is a locally owned and managed, not for profit organization supported by the strength of more than 900 members on its medical staff and more than 2,900 licensed nurses. McLeod Health is also composed of approximately 15,000 team members and more than 90 physician practices throughout its 18-county service area. With seven hospitals, McLeod Health operates three Health and Fitness Centers, a Sports Medicine and Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, Hospice and Home Health Services. The system currently has 988 licensed beds, including Hospice and Behavioral Health. The hospitals within McLeod Health include: McLeod Regional Medical Center, McLeod Health Dillon, McLeod Health Loris, McLeod Health Seacoast, McLeod Health Cheraw, McLeod Health Clarendon and McLeod Behavioral Health.
Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values. Assists the physician in assessing the needs of patients based on data collected through history, observation, physical exam, telephone triage and analysis of diagnostic data: Performs direct patient care, i.e. triage, assessment, procedures, treatments, patient education, discharge and follow-up instructions. Prepares patient to be seen by physician. Formulates the initial database by systematically collecting pertinent information through communication with patient and family, observation and objective evaluation. This includes vital signs, history, and chief complaint, and documentation of all relevant information in the patient’s chart. Records data in patient’s medical record as appropriate. Assist physicians in room when nurse is not available. Assists physician with injections, treatments and procedures as needed. Applies splints such as OCL, MCF, and others as needed. Apply and remove casts. Remove staples when needed. Provides to the patient education appropriate to the situation. Schedules testing and referral appointments for patients per physician instructions. Consults with patient on telephone calls whether addressing the problem or referring the call to the physician. Performs follow-up calls to patients as necessary. Schedules and reschedules appointments. Clean instruments as needed- take to and pick up from central processing Assists with transporting patients to hospital if needed Assists with ordering of supplies and stocking as needed Scheduling surgery, MRI, ultrasounds, x-rays, procedures, pre-op etc. Obtain authorization and/or precertification for surgeries, MRI, ultrasounds, x-rays, procedures, etc. Schedule Referrals and Physical Therapy etc. Complete forms for Workers Comp, FMLA, Disability etc. Provides support to front office personnel. Answer phones, scanning etc. Schedule office appointments when needed Performs all other duties assigned by provider and practice administrator.
Performs other duties necessary in providing high quality patient care:
Cleans and straightens examination rooms between patients according to OSHA standards. Keeps all necessary instruments clean and in examination rooms. Sets up and maintains equipment and immediately notifies the physician office manager or appropriate personnel of any malfunction. Maintains medical supply inventory, checks expiration dates on drugs and vaccines and disposes of outdatedmedications. Orders all medical supplies and assists drug representatives as needed.
Develops and maintains a working knowledge of all equipment needed to perform duties. Promotes a climate conducive to learning through encouragement of co-worker’s formal and informal continuing education. Actively participates in departmental projects. Promotes the practice mission and philosophy. Promotes the practice by projecting a positive image. Assist other practices within Dillon as needed with similar duties when workload allows Demonstrates a willingness to perform the duties of other department personnel when workload requires.Qualifications /Training:
Computer skills Need to obtain BLS Needs to have completed training through a certified CMA program
Licenses/Certifications/Registrations/Education:
Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED from an accredited school Must possess a valid CMA license – certificate
