Your Role:
We are seeking a strategic leader for the role of Medical and Public Affairs Lead. This individual will shape and execute the medical strategy within our affiliate, overseeing the Medical Affairs Department to align medical activities with local and global business objectives. Responsibilities include managing medical initiatives, regulatory oversight, and talent development. The role also emphasizes patient advocacy and policy shaping, engaging with key stakeholders to influence the clinical research landscape and promote disease awareness. This position is crucial for building partnerships that enhance our mission and impact patient outcomes.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

Medical Management and Leadership: Align local strategies with affiliate business realities, manage the execution of tactical plans, and oversee a broad portfolio of Medical Affairs tactics across therapeutic areas.  Talent Management and People Development: Lead talent review processes, develop onboarding and training programs, and create action plans for succession pools in leadership positions.  Regulatory & Compliance Management: Collaborate on regulatory, reputational, and compliance issues, ensuring resolutions satisfy both business and societal needs.  Scientific and Technical Leadership: Contribute to strategic discussions within cross-functional teams and manage effective scientific communication.  Patient Advocacy and Policy Shaping: Identify and engage key stakeholders, implement effective engagement strategies, and drive initiatives to influence the clinical research landscape.

 

Skills and Competencies:

Leadership Abilities: Proven experience in leading teams, mentoring new hires, and fostering collaboration within teams.  Scientific Expertise: Strong scientific and/or clinical training in a therapeutic area relevant to the position is strongly preferred.  External stakeholder management: demonstrating the ability to engage effectively with key stakeholders.  Analytical Skills: Ability to consolidate and share healthcare landscape insights and translate them into actionable affiliate strategies.  Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of effective scientific communication throughout the region. 

 

Qualifications and Experience: 

Education:  A university degree (Bachelor’s) is required, preferably in a scientific field relevant to the position. A secondary/advanced scientific degree (e.g., PharmD, PhD, DO, MD, MBBS) is required, with other advanced degrees (e.g., MBA, MPH) being desirable.  Experience: A minimum of 8 years in the pharmaceutical industry is required, with significant experience in Medical Affairs roles. Experience in other pharmaceutical functions at local, regional, or global levels is desirable. (Experience in multiple therapeutic areas)Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with local and international regulations, including Good Clinical Practice, is essential. A strong understanding of local compliance and regulatory requirements for pharmaceutical Medical Affairs, R&D, and Commercial work is also necessary.  Healthcare Environment Knowledge or Public health knowledge: A comprehensive understanding of the local healthcare environment is crucial.
