JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Director of Digital Content & Strategy, the incumbent will develop and produce digital media content and campaigns for targeted audiences, including alumni, opinion leaders, prospective students, and other University constituents, in support of the University’s brand and reputation across all institutional level social media platforms.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Builds and maintains the UConn brand in the digital arena through exposure, influence, and engagement across all social media platforms at the institutional level.
+ Implements the institution’s social media strategy, including university guidelines and parameters for all university account users, provides policy guidance, and develops and executes campaigns both large and small.
+ Serves as a primary content creator for all institutional-level social media platforms, including the development and execution of all social media campaigns and posts.
+ Supervises, trains, and assigns work to a team of student social media contributors.
+ Gathers relevant data to guide social media strategy and tactical implementation as well as short- and long-term engagement and effectiveness. Analysis of emerging media trends and platforms is an ongoing responsibility.
+ Serves as a consultant to departmental/university social media managers regarding the most effective social media platforms and best practices to reach target audiences and achieve desired results, and monitors other departmental content.
+ Collaborates with other departments and regional campuses to coordinate content and amplify content and to guide posting content when a department doesn’t have its own accounts.
+ Convenes project work groups and gathers and reviews relevant data to guide social media development, enhance effectiveness, and monitor analytics.
+ Represents University Communications to internal and external constituencies.
+ Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
+ Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or a related field.
+ Minimum of 4 to 5 years’ relevant experience.
+ Demonstrated experience in new media or social media strategy, implementation, and measurement with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms and their respective participants (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, etc.) and how they can be deployed in different scenarios.
+ Superior writing, communication, interpersonal, diplomatic, and organizational skills.
+ Ability to be actively engaged in a number of projects simultaneously, meet and enforce deadlines, take initiative, and work independently to carry out complex assignments.
+ Knowledge of graphic design and awareness of graphics needs to complement content and platform.
+ Willingness to work flexible hours when activities fall outside normal working hours.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
+ Experience in, or strong knowledge of, the field of higher education.
+ Basic knowledge of video editing software.
+ More than two years of managing a brand social account.
