This position description does not restrict the right of management to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities with and without notice.Minimum EducationAssociate’s degree in medical laboratory scienceOR Associate’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological scienceOR Associate’s degree in another discipline with documented chemistry and biology hours that satisfy CLIA requirements for high complexity testing personnel.ORHave previously qualified or could have qualified as a technologist under § 493.1489;(4) On or before April 24, 1995 be a high school graduate or equivalent and have either -(i) Graduated from a medical laboratory or clinical laboratory training program approved or accredited by ABHES, CAHEA, or other organization approved by HHS; or(ii) Successfully completed an official U.S. military medical laboratory procedures training course of at least 50 weeks duration and have held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Laboratory Technician).Required SkillsCertification/LicenseASCP, HEW, or equivalent certified Medical Laboratory Technician required within one year from date of hire.Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
