Departmentalized technicians will have increased technical responsibility in areas of specialization. + Assess and report acceptable results. Troubleshoot and document problems and out-of-control results to level of capability. Notify supervisor of problems. + Perform and document routine and monthly maintenance of laboratory instrumentation. Notify supervisor of operational difficulties. + Maintain inventory sheets in assigned areas and notify coordinator of needs. + Assist in training students and new employees. + Operate computer including all routines dealing with patient data and quality control. + Perform phlebotomies as requested. + Maintain laboratory work areas in a clean and safe manner. + Attend laboratory meetings. + Attend in service education meetings and educational seminars as requested and other duties as needed. _It is understood that this is a summary of key job functions and does not include every detail of the job that may reasonably be required._ **Education/Experience Required** + Able to utilize analyzers and computer proficiency preferred. + Six months of experience in a laboratory environment. + Two year Medical Lab Technician Program/Associates Degree. **Registration/Certification** + MLT (ASCP) license **Physical/Environmental Requirements** This job requires frequent bending, carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, walking and lifting over 10 lbs. There will be occasional need for climbing stairs, lifting in excess of 50 – 100 lbs and sitting. Constant use of hearing, sight and speech. Frequent use of smell and touch. Frequent keyboard and telephone use.
