Job Summary
Supervise and direct activities of hourly maintenance crafts people and interface closely with Maintenance Scheduler/Planner, Mechanics Technician, and with appropriate Operations and other site departments to ensure that all facets of plant reliability meet safety, quality, and production standards and are achieved through the appropriate administration of Company and site policies, procedures, and business objectives.How you will contribute
1. Maintenance
• Responsible that work execution of the mechanic is performed safely, efficiently, and effectively according to the maintenance plan;
• Responsible to indirect maintenance resources to respond to production, environmental and safety emergencies;
• Responsible for all site utilities on mechanical concern, maintenance contracts, facility and infrastructure.
• Establishes short- and longer-term maintenance priorities in conjunction with maintenance planning and scheduling;
• Schedules and tracks mechanics work schedules (i.e., time worked, overtime, time-off scheduling, etc);
• Establishes work standards to maximize individual accountability to optimize productivity and efficiency;
• Determines plant equipment and maintenance supply needs;
• Control usage of plant equipment and maintenance supply.
• Assesses training needs and recommends development plans for mechanics;
• Participles in development and implementation plant preventive and predictive maintenance programs to ensure compliance with operational, cGMP, and safety and environmental standards;
• Works in conjunction with Maintenance Engineer to coordinate plant construction activities between construction contractors, maintenance, engineering and other plant departments;
• Works in conjunction with Reliability Engineer to plan and implement maintenance activities relative to planned plant shutdownsใ
• Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
2. Safety, Health, and Environment/ Quality and Food Safety
• Support EHS, quality & food safety policies and procedures by ensuring that all maintenance work assigned has been critically reviewed for safety health and Environmental considerations;
• Provide training assistance whenever possible to ensure employee safety awareness;
• Monitor and ensure completion of facility inspections as outlined in the facilities inspection manual;
• Act as a liaison with inspection and insurance agencies in terms of annual equipment inspections, insurance related inspections, provincial/federal mandated inspections and Company regulated inspections;
• Ensure that all maintenance work or maintenance originated projects are completed in such a way that the work supports the existing environmental regulations.
• Conduct investigations into any system failures and develop and implement programs to prevent re-occurrence.
• Develop the PM inspection skill set of the shift technician through training programs, coaching and maintenance of standards
• Conduct job safety analysis in-house and outsource maintenance
• Participate in site Environmental Health and safety programs, behavioral based safety, Hazard Recognition, Hazard identification, Environmental Aspect, emergency response, audits and emergency response activities as required.
• Participate in site quality programs, behavioral based quality & food safety activities, audits and risk base on quality & food safety activities as required.
• Follow cGMP&HACCP Practice.
3. Budgeting/Purchasing/Cost Control
• Improve equipment reliability through innovative modifications and preventive maintenance in order to enhance favorable performance against the department's budget and maximise equipment uptime and
What you will need to be successful
1. Education/Experience
• Mechanical Diploma or equivalent. plus 12-18 years of relevant experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical engineering or equivalent plus 7-10 years relevant experience; Experience as multi-craft maintenance supervisor preferred but not required;
• Good working knowledge and understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems with working knowledge of SAP highly desirable.
• Hands on experience in chemical industry and food processing is prefer.
2. Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
• Good supervisory skills with the ability to interact at all levels within the organization
• Ability to manage time, balance priorities, and manage conflict.
• Good analytical skills with demonstrated ability to consistently solve problems in a decisive and efficient manner.
• Ability to apply keen business acumen in interacting with vendors, suppliers, and outside contractors to effect cost savings and procure quality materials and resources.
• Computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, and SAP experience is preferred).
• Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and listening) and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of GMP for food additives and pharmaceutical excipients is preferred.
