The Capital Division at NYC Parks is responsible for managing the design, construction, and administration of capital projects to expand, improve and revitalize these public spaces. Within the division, a Capital Needs Assessment Team has been established to thoroughly understand the physical condition of these assets, to allocate resources and plan capital projects accordingly. Major Responsibilities - Under supervision of a Licensed Professional Engineer, perform condition assessments of mechanical engineering systems, including plumbing, HVAC and electrical systems, according to Agency guidelines, inspection protocols and state and local regulations. - Conduct field inspections to identify defects at the system and component level, recommend interventions to improve overall asset condition and meet benchmark performance requirements. - Prepare detailed reports to support condition assessment findings. Collect and capture additional asset information to build and improve upon the accuracy of Parks’ asset inventories. - Maintain inspection data using NYC Parks’ asset management software systems. Analyze the data to identify trends and monitor effectiveness of NYC Parks’ proactive maintenance of assets. - Collaborate with other Parks technical staff, including professional cost estimators, to accurately document observed conditions and propose recommended actions for mechanical systems.
