Trimble Paris 3D scanning group is looking for an experienced mechanical engineer.
The successful candidate will become a core member of an international development team working at the development of new advanced optoelectronic instrument dedicated to 3D measurements of our geospatial environment. This multidisciplinary team is made up of highly talented electrical, optical, mechanical and firmware engineers, working in a “startup” environment that is capable of adapting quickly to emerging technologies and changing market needs in order to deliver cutting-edge, innovative systems.
This position is based in Joinville le Pont within a local team of around 25 people, shared between the different technologies
Responsibilities
You will be a bright, highly motivated, creative engineer. You will work on the design and development of prototypes for new 3D measurements products based on optical and electronic technologies. Your main responsibilities will be:
Participating in development, integration and testing of optical measuring devices using lasers, optics, digital and analog electronics, motors, embedded cameras and highly integrated FPGA based computing devices (Zynq series 7000, Ultrascale…),
Pushing new ideas and concept for instrument development,
Working on all aspects linked to the development of the mechanical structure of instruments with in mind the objective of cost, size and weight reduction while keeping a large working range of temperature and environmental conditions,
Designing, from single mechanical components, including optical parts and electronic boards positioning and tuning, to the complete structure and covers of the instrument,
Mechanical simulation (thermal, vibrations…) to make sure that the instrument will withstand the required environmental conditions,
Manufacturing technologies selection (machining, plastic and metal injection molding or 3D printing…) and validation,
Production process definition,
Involving in whole development cycle of the project, from conception, design, development, testing, to deployment.
Skills & Experience Required:
You will have both an aptitude and interest in commercial technology and product development, top-level academic credentials and demonstrated drive and commitment.
You have a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical Engineering or related discipline with 3-5 years of industry experience; OR a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline with 2 years of industry experience.
Industry experience must include working as mechanical engineer and participating in market released product developments.
In addition you have the following skills:
Very good communication and team skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment,
Good oral/written communication in English,
Hands on person and quick on learning new technologies,
Specialized in high-end instrument development (spatial technologies, micromechanics...)
Focused on instrument cost reduction,
Willing to assemble, tune and test your own developments,
Familiar with high level development tool (Creo, Solidworks) and brigdes to optical ( ZEMAX) and electronic Cad software ( Altium designer).
