Job Title: Mechanical Engineer
Job Description
The main function of a design engineer is to research and develop ideas for new products and systems. The typical design engineer will perform various tasks including creating test prototypes, and overseeing manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities
Design, manufacture, and assemble prototypes of soft wearable electronic devicesApply sound engineering and design principles for manufacturing of novel sensor integrations in wearable electronicsCommunicate with vendors on DFM and Manufacturing of designs for prototype buildsCollaborate with researchers and engineers to rapidly prototype hardware solutions, iterate, and run experiments
Skills & Qualifications
Experience in building hardware prototypes, preferably in wearable consumer electronics, or a similar fieldExperience with 3D modeling software (Siemens NX preferred. Solidworks, Creo, or similar allowed)Experience with FPC/PCB integrationExperience in consumer electronicsExperience with prototyping including 3D printingKnowledge of Camera integration/OpticsHands-on prototyping with molding and casting of elastomers or industrial processes such as Liquid Injection MoldingExperience collaborating and communicating effectively on multi-disciplinary teamsExperience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience required
