Advanced Energy has devoted four decades to perfecting power for its global customers and is headquartered in Denver, Colorado. **POSITION SUMMARY:** The Mechanical Engineer will design and develop efficient and cost-effective power supplies per customer and regulatory specifications (i.e., sheet metal enclosures, stamped and extruded heatsinks, cable assemblies, etc.) including thermal/acoustic/vibration design and simulation, 3D board layout and prototype testing. **RESPONSIBILITIES:** + Design and develop efficient and cost-effective power supplies per customer and regulatory specifications (i.e., sheet metal enclosures, stamped and extruded heatsinks, cable assemblies, etc.) including thermal design and simulation, 3D board layout and prototype testing + Work in a team environment with hardware engineers, electrical engineers, firmware engineers, and program managers on product development of extensive scope + Utilize strong communication and team skills. Persuade and gain agreement with cross functional teams (hardware) and the ability to effectively communicate with multiple levels of an organization + Participate in design reviews to improve mechanical and thermal design + Exercise engineering judgment to select and develop methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to secure project success + Analyze test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications + Interface with internal departments to ensure cost and schedule goals are met + Responsible to diagnose issues of diverse scope with design, field performance, root cause/failure analysis, reliability and manufacturing test yields of existing power supply products using formal investigation methods and to recommend/implement corrective actions to address **WORK ENVIRONMENT:** + Location: Eden Prairie, MN + Environment: Works in a noisy fast-paced power development lab and standard office environment **QUALIFICATIONS:** + To perform this job successfully, an individual should have demonstrated proficiency with Windows-based platforms and with computer-based design and analysis tools. Experience with SolidWorks, Pro-E, CFDesign, Flotherm, ANSYS and/or SolidWorks Simulation a plus. The individual should also have working knowledge of Database, Spreadsheet, and Word Processing software + Ability to work independently and as part of a team; consistent demonstrated ability to meet schedule requirements and define priorities without direct supervision + Ability to follow standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be obtained + Ability to learn and use professional concepts appropriate to engineering, including analytical methods, computer aided analysis and design tools, diagnostic instruments and test equipment, lab skills appropriate to design, selecting appropriate components and materials for designs + Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously + Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills + Must be able to travel occasionally domestically and internationally as required **EXPERIENCE:** + 0-5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in Mechanical Engineering or similar **EDUCATION:** + Bachelor's (BSME) degree from four-year college or university **COMPENSATION:** _As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.
