In this role, you will be responsible for the concept development and design of mechanical and mechatronic systems as part of the Design to Cost program within the Material and Structural Analysis Division (MSD). Your mission is to find design solutions that address customer needs at the best cost. **The Position** The Mechanical Engineer will collaborate closely with various parts of the organization (Research and Development, Manufacturing Engineering, Product Marketing, Procurement, Service, etc.) and suppliers to find opportunities and implement design changes that deliver cost improvements. This position is based in Brno, as part of the Operations Strategy Deployment organization in MSD Operations. **What will you do?** + Investigate current designs to find opportunities for cost improvement and document these opportunities to build our funnel of ideas. + Redesign and implement changes in parts and assemblies to improve material, quality, service, and manufacturing costs. + Collaborate with other departments (Engineering, R&D, Procurement, Service, Sourcing, Finance), third-party design partners, and suppliers on cost-improvement projects. + Act as cost engineering within cross-site New Product development projects. + Proactively identify issues, concerns, or challenges in the Design to Cost program. Facilitate trade-off decisions and remove obstacles. **How will you get here?** + University degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics engineering, or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required skills + Relevant working experience in designing highly complex mechanical systems. + Knowledge of Product Development and Project Management Practices, Processes, and Tools. + Experience with Value Engineering and/or Design for Six Sigma. + Knowledge of design principles, new product development, and engineering change processes. + Awareness of manufacturing, service, factory, and supply chain processes. + Business and Financial Acuity: Understand product cost structure and its relation to project financials. + Ability to work across language and cultural barriers. + Fluency in English. **Benefits:** + Work with us and become an important part of a Hi-Tech company which develops brand-new solutions for customers worldwide + We offer a modern work environment including relaxation zones, power yoga lectures, gym and massages in the building, and an outside playground.
