Job Description:


A leading EPCM has an opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer – Bulk Materials Handling is to ensure the technical integrity of the Discipline on the project. The design generated shall be suitable for purpose through all operating conditions taking into account adverse operating conditions. All work needs to be carried out within the manpower budgets and meeting the project due dates. It is imperative that in the course of performing the required activities that there is adherence to the procedures and mandatory standards and in line with the BTD’s guideline. Where-ever this cannot be achieved it is the Mechanical Engineer-Bulk Material Handling responsibility to ensure that all deviations are properly communicated and documented to ensure risk mitigations can/are be put in place.


 


Responsibilities:


Ensure that the client specifications are incorporated in the design criteria and adhered to through the design phase of the project

Create, update and enforce Engineering Design Criteria.

Create and review discipline specific technical specifications and up-dating such to be project specific.

Ensuring that all design work within the discipline is safe and complies to RAMBOE

Manage the discipline specific technical integrity of the layout of the plant, from conceptual to execution phases of the project.

Coordination with other discipline/Project Engineers to ensure effective information transfer.

Liaison with the Section Leader / Draughtsperson with regards to the drawing requirements, certified information and the dates required.

Sign off Engineering deliverables (design, calculations, models, drawings).

Design/Calculations (creation of, checking of, submitting to document control for issue).

Compile material take offs / bills of quantities that are in a format suitable for costing, and accurate as per MTO BTD’s. (Business Task Description)

Attend MS reviews and provide feedback based on latest Navis works file.

Milestone Process Management within the Discipline. Enforce/adapt/modify when necessary.

Provide discipline specific technical clarifications and constraints as required to the specific project through all phases from design, construction and operations to commissioning.

Ensure that all discipline scope of works and battery limits are clearly defined and documented in the procurement packages.

Contribute to discipline specifications required for equipment purchases.

Ensure that all relevant Engineering produced information is handed to all the Discipline Section Leaders, Draughtspersons and Checkers

Review of Vendor Shop Detail Drawings

Support and liaison with the Expediting and Inspection Departments.

Perform squad checks as and when required.

Strict control, monitoring and reporting of Engineering hours, loading of the budget into Dynamics and ensuring man-hours are recorded correctly against WBS codes.

Preparation of change requests as required for changes in scope of work.

Key 360 drawing and document submissions.

Procurement packages.

Dynamics -EReq and PReq.

Supervising draftspersons to reduce rework. Overall the Engineer is responsible for correctness of drawing deliverables and other deliverables.


 


Requirements: Qualification and Skill


BSc Degree in relevant engineering discipline (alternatively B.Eng or B.Tech)

Post Graduate management qualification an advantage (MAP, MBA, MBL, PMP)

Registration as a Professional Engineer/technician/technologist with ECSA

Courses ( CMA Conveyor Courses, Bulk Solids Material Flow Courses)

Skills required: Microsoft packages; Project management packages; Analysis and reporting; Design software (Sidewinder Packages and Navisworks); DEM Software Newton or Rocky; Sidewinder Conveyor Design packages
