Mechanical Design Engineer (Water / Wastewater)

Role description:

Our Water Design and Engineering team is involved in some of the UK’s most complex and stimulating projects that are diverse and technically demanding. We have an excellent reputation in the delivery of such schemes and are working closely with some of the UK’s most established and recognisable companies, undertaking a vast array of projects to enhance the UK’s water infrastructure and environment.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will join our MEICA team to contribute and apply your skills on a variety of water and wastewater projects for our clients regionally and across the UK.

Reporting to the Principal Engineer or Associate Technical Director, you will be responsible for specifying and designing mechanical process plant on projects that promise to meet or exceed client expectations.  You will represent Arcadis with direct stakeholder engagement, contributing towards the achievement of our business objectives and building networks within the industry.

Role accountabilities:

Ability to work both independently and collaborate effectively a team member in the production and peer checking of mechanical design deliverables. Supporting the design and advisory services relating to new and existing water and wastewater conveyance and treatment assets. Ensuring safety of yourself and others through design collaboration and actions. Technical delivery within a multi-disciplinary team environment, in a mechanical design capacity using the latest digital design processes and resources. Develop innovative and optimised technical solutions based on client needs and drivers Co-ordinate work within multi-disciplinary teams (e.g., process, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and ICA) Establish and grow relationships with clients and capital alliance partners on project technical, commercial and progress matters Ensuring projects meet required technical, legislative, quality, safety and environmental standards and objectives. Capturing key project and technical knowledge, including innovations. Internally promote and share project achievements and developments.

Qualifications & Experience:

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other directly related degree Working towards Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status and membership of a relevant professional institution (e.g., IMechE, IET, CIWEM)  At least 2 years’ experience  and track record in technical delivery of process plant systems on complex engineering projects, preferably related to water and wastewater industry. Experience of working on design projects using digital design platforms Collaborative behaviours
