Mechanical Design Engineer - Transformer Repair Center
**Mechanical Design Engineer – Power Transformers** **A Snapshot of Your Day** **The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for preparing mechanical designs for Power transformers as well as achieve design innovations and the optimization of the end products in compliance to Siemens Energy design rules, quality standards, cost position and time schedule.** **How You’ll Make an Impact** + **Preparing customer documentation like general outlines, shipping/transport details, valve schedules, and performing detailed mechanical design, development, and analysis of the core, clamping, leads, winding assembly, tank, and externals of transformers and their sub-assemblies & components.** + **Model assemblies and parts, generate drawings, bills of material, and order components for Mechanical Design.** + **Understanding customer specifications, project requirements, guaranteed technical particulars, preparing design review documents, technical reports, and justifications for the customers, and collaborating with other departments like sales, electrical design, manufacturing, Quality, testing, and service departments on technical topics related to mechanical design.** + **Collaborating with other Siemens Energy transformer factories for additional product improvements.** + **Effectively communicating among multi-functional teams and participating in various internal and external technical forums.** + **Extending support for the development of global design rules & R&D efforts on an as-needed basis.** **What You Bring** + **Bachelor’s degree or higher in mechanical engineering with five or more years of working experience as a mechanical design engineer directly with large Power Transformers. 30 to 1300 MVA. Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice-versa.** + **Proficient in mechanical design of transformers, with 5+ years' experience. Skilled in 3D/2D CAD and PDM software.** + **Understand mechanical simulations such as structural, seismic, CFD (e.g., ANSYS, CREO simulate).** + **Preferred experience with SAP.** + **Willingness to relocate to the Charlotte, NC area if not local.** **Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
