Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer Responsibilities + Lead the design of mechanical rooms, rooftop penthouses, piping systems, and other components associated with industrial refrigeration systems for cold storage warehouses. + Perform advanced engineering calculations for system design, including tolerance dimensions, thermal analysis, and structural considerations. + Ensure designs are compliant with company procedures, industry regulations, and client standards. + Review and submit detailed drawings to upper management, fabrication teams, and construction teams for approval. + Provide technical support during the building and installation process to ensure systems are built according to design specifications. + Build Bills of Materials (BOM) for each design and input data into the ERP system. + Collaborate with the fabrication team during the manufacturing process, offering technical expertise as needed. + Work with the purchasing team to ensure timely and accurate material orders. + Communicate with vendors regarding part specifications and fabrication requirements. + Occasionally mentor junior engineers, providing guidance on design best practices and technical issues. Essential Skills + 2-5 years of experience in mechanical system design. + Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. + Professional experience with AutoCAD or other CAD programs (SolidWorks). + Strong understanding of engineering principles, with a focus on mechanical and refrigeration systems. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME preferred). + Minimum of 3-5 years of experience managing large-scale industrial refrigeration or related projects (e.g., HVAC, commercial refrigeration, or heavy industrial construction). + Proven leadership abilities, with experience managing cross-functional teams of engineers, technicians, and subcontractors. + Strong negotiation skills to ensure cost-effective procurement and the ability to solve complex issues independently within project constraints. + The ability to make independent business decisions within budget, seeking guidance only when dealing with exceptionally difficult issues. + Excellent organizational and documentation skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple ongoing projects. + Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to manage client expectations and provide clear updates on project progress. + Proficiency in project management software and familiarity with CAD and engineering drawings. + Expertise in ammonia and CO2-based refrigeration systems, with a deep understanding of relevant safety and environmental regulations.
