Job Purpose
You will be responsible for designing mechanical products for high-volume manufacturing, ensuring high quality and suitability for harsh environments, specifically for High Voltage Power Electronics products. Your tasks will include developing CAD models and drawings based on mechanical engineering requirements, performing drawing verification of your designs, and supporting the development of manufacturing and test fixtures and gauges.
Key responsibilitiesPerform MCAD activities on new or existing projects.
Create, evaluate, and document mechanical designs using corporate tool sets (UG/CATIA/TcEng).
Create and update 3D parts, assemblies, and drawings.
Support ME documentation requirements in line with ME design processes.
Ensure the drawings follow internal standards and procedures.
Attend project team meetings.
Support mechanical verification activities, requests, tolerance stack-ups, and documentation.
Support the change management process as required.
Participate in discussions with suppliers during the development and sourcing activities.
Communicate and present results to the team.
Exchange 3D data with suppliers and customers.
Manage BOMs (Bill of Materials).
What we’re looking for
University degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
Strong mechanical engineering background.
Proficient in PC applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Previous design experience in Power Electronics.
3D modeling experience is required, preferably with UG NX/CATIA.
Understanding of the relationships between manufacturing processes, materials, and component designs for plastic, sheet metal, and die-cast parts.
Design experience in a cost-competitive automotive environment with a particular focus on stringent sealing, thermal, and vibration conditions.
Knowledge and understanding of GD&T ASME Y14.5 principles and their application.
Technical proficiency in a second European language would be an advantage.
Customer-focused, with leadership spirit, motivation skills, and the ability to work in a team environment.
Proficient in MS Office and CAD programs.
Fluency in English is required; German and/or French is a plus.
Experience in mechanical design in a high-volume, quality-sensitive manufacturing organization.
Experience with automotive products, specifically high-power control units.
Good interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
Excellent timekeeping and attendance record.
Willingness to travel and work in a multi-cultural, multi-disciplined product development team spread across several locations worldwide.
