Job Summary:

The Assembler works under supervision performing assigned mechanical assembly processes to manufacture Crane Aerospace & Electronics products in accordance with military and/or other assembly standards using visual aids, verbal and/or written instructions. In addition, the Assembler communicates with the manufacturing team and performs visual and dimensional inspection.

Essential Functions:

Perform assigned assembly tasks using tools such as: drills, wrenches, screw drivers, sockets, adhesives, etc.Prepare components prior to assembly, clean components, mark, and inspect components, subassemblies, or completed assembliesDemonstrate proficiency in performing established operations within at least 2 area processesAbility to ensure all paperwork is completed appropriatelySet up and operate assigned equipment and machineryObserve proper health and safety procedures in handling hazardous chemicalsIdentify and report to lead or supervisor any difficulty which would affect the correctness and quality of the work in processUnderstand daily demand per Master Schedule Report for the cell(s) they are working inCreate IT, Facilities work orders, Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for quality and material issues.Participate in cleaning of area and machinery and take part in team meetings for improvementPractice safe work habits as established by OSHA and Crane policy; Proactively identify safety concerns or issues and work with the Engineering group to implement solutionsSupport Crane Business System (CBS) initiatives including 5S, KPI’s, Standard Work, Problem Solving, and other initiatives as they ariseComplete job-related company training courses as assignedFlexible and willing to work overtime if necessaryAny other task assigned by supervisor or management

Non-Essential Functions:

Understand and/or participate with internal/external auditsPerform inventory cycle countsMay be required to repair/rework defective or returned assemblies

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience: 0-5 years of mechanical assembly experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience with tools like drills, wrenches, screw drivers, sockets, adhesives, etc.Knowledge: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goodsSkills: Strong verbal and written communication; Proficiency in reading comprehension (understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents) of the English 
language; Basic computer skills, e-mail etc. (understanding of basic software)Abilities: Accurate color vision, near vision, and depth perception and other vision capabilities required; Manipulative skills, including finger and manual dexterity; Adept hand eye coordination and arm-hand steadiness; Ability to thoroughly interpret production or engineering prints, production planning information and assembly aids such as illustrations and wiring diagrams; Ability to work well in a moderate to high paced work environment in a high-volume settingEducation/Certification: High School diploma or equivalent; Fine soldering certificate or equivalent experience preferredEligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)

Preferred Qualifications:

IPC Soldering and/or Rework/Repair CertificationExperience maintaining equipment on a stringent calibration scheduleDesignated Inspection certificationAbility to assist in the creation of sequence of operations and installation requirements based on review and understanding of drawings and oral instructionsAbility to perceive and pre-determine sequence of operations and installation requirements from sketches and oral instructions

Salary range: $21.31 to $27.58. Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications. Some roles may be eligible for participation in performance-based bonus programs.
