What does a Mechanical Artist Lead do at Hogarth?
The Lead Studio Artist (Mechanical Artist Lead) is responsible for localizing print and digital mechanicals for EU. You will develop accurate and high-quality artwork for production assignments to incorporate in the final layout. You will need to be able to work in a high paced environment with tight deadlines whilst still delivering work to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities: Manage the entire workflow of a group of mechanical artists. Ensuring efficient ways of working, best practices and trafficking. Oversee all design requirements from artwork to print production. Oversee communications with account service and print production teams and resolve any problems with artwork that may arise. Liaise with Project Management, and production teams for file preparation, briefing methods and delivery. While honoring the design intent as much as possible, the mechanical artist will be responsible for the iteration and versioning of localized artwork files. Manages a high-volume workload, including foreign language versions, if required. Act as a brand QC/Guardian – always ensure brand guidelines, QC checklists and procedures are followed Work with the global automation team to ensure efficiency initiatives conducted centrally are implemented for EU. Provided hindsight to worldwide teams on continuous process and quality improvement. Train current and new Studio Artists making sure they have all the tools needed to work for Channel, this includes constantly updating resources to resolve any doubts about the processes for EU. Lead other TLs during WS, answering their doubts and helping them fix/solve problems with their teams. Help guide Studio Artists with IT-related issues, this includes opening tickets, sending emails to fix any Slack, Box or Planet problem, or having Webex calls to help them fix their issue. Creates new databases to make work more effective and avoid building complications. Make sure data is collected to facilitate AM Reports
Requirements:
5+ years’ experience in mechanical production, printing, and technology BA in Graphic Design/Print Media or equivalent Prepress background a plus Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat); working knowledge of Photoshop a plus Proactive in keeping skills up to date and driving self-improvement Ability to prioritize workload and work both independently and with a team Ability to navigate complex processes and tools Effective time manager Meticulous attention to detail Strong interpersonal and organizational skills Communicate fully, effectively, and diplomatically Proactive, solution-oriented thinker Comfortable working in a high-pressure, confidential studio environment Adapt easily to shifting priorities/timelines Calm demeanor under pressure Exceptional interpersonal and written communication and follow-up skills Flexibility during high-volume periods (some longer hours).#LI-CB1
