Feel free to enrich both your personal and work life and hop on board! **Why you'll love this job** This role will lead the teams responsible for conceiving, developing, and maintaining technical requirements and specifications for the operation and maintenance of engines, APUs and hardware, in addition to providing engineering support to Line maintenance, Base Maintenance and all outsourced maintenance providers. This leader plays a key role in successful collaboration with all groups within and outside the Integrated Operations organization. **What you'll do** _As noted above, this list is intended to reflect the current job but there may be additional essential functions (and certainly non-essential job functions) that are not referenced. Management will modify the job or require other tasks be performed whenever it is deemed appropriate to do so, observing, of course, any legal obligations including any collective bargaining obligations._ + Direct and coordinate all efforts related to the day-to-day operation of the powerplant engineering, tooling engineering, shop support engineering, engineering support center (ESC), and base support engineering (BSE) departments + Work closely with the Engineering & Quality Leadership team to develop and implement the overall business and operational strategy for the division + Establish an uncompromising commitment to safety and ensure safety and compliance is the number one priority in every action or decision considered + Provide leadership and direction to ensure high standards of performance are maintained in the areas of safety, compliance, cost, and quality + Ensure strict and timely compliance with all CFRs, other regulatory requirements and company standards as pertaining to engineering + Interact with OEMs and vendors as appropriate to ensure the airline secures the projected optimum operating and technical performance from its aircraft fleet + Partner with industry/airline counterparts and assure good representation and leadership on Industry Working Groups and Committees + Work closely with all management levels within Technical Operations to identify and overcome obstacles so that established goals are met + Maintain a high level of employee communication and satisfaction among the departments + Further develop the quality and capability of the management team **All you'll need for success** **Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience** + Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or aerospace engineering or equivalent engineering experience/training + 10 years of leadership experience, overseeing large cross-functional teams in aircraft engineering and maintenance + Experience collaborating cross-functionally with other Engineering teams, OEMs, MOC, Line & Base Maintenance, HMPs, and the FAA + Technical knowledge of aircraft maintenance procedures, federal aviation regulations, and FAA policies and procedures + Experience in negotiating with aircraft manufacturers and vendor **Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience** + Master’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or aerospace engineering or equivalent engineering experience/training + A&P License **Skills, Licenses & Certifications** + Demonstrates the highest standards of personal ethics and integrity + Action oriented, results-driven leader with a natural aptitude for engaging employees + Ability to lead, motivate, coach, and inspire a diverse staff and frontline team + Ability to build collaborative relationships with, and consensus amongst, multiple stakeholders with varying points of view + Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with ability to interact effectively with all levels, both verbally and written + Excellent critical thinking ability and decision-making skills + Effective problem-solving, collaboration, and negotiations skills + Excellent planning/organization skills with ability to manage multiple projects successfully + Ability to be flexible in rapidly changing conditions and priorities, and to redirect managers and teams toward new objectives; ability to embrace ambiguity and enable clarity + Believes in and promotes the American Airlines five leadership attributes: + Caring – we care about all team members + Collaboration – We succeed as a team + Development – We build future leaders + Results – We drive to be the best + Future – We continually challenge the status quo **What you'll get** Feel free to take advantage of all that American Airlines has to offer: + Travel Perks: Ready to explore the world?
