Job DescriptionReviews menu and assembles supplies, ingredients, and baking equipment as needed for daily baking activities.Prepares and bakes items such as breads, rolls, muffins, cakes, desserts, and pastries. Assembles sandwiches and other items according to procedure.Selects, measures, and mixes ingredients; pours batter into baking pans and places in oven for appropriate baking time according to recipes.Cuts and portions finished baked goods according to procedure for distribution to patients and cafeteria service.Sends baked goods and items to cafeteria, catering and the patient tray line according to established schedule.Consults with Executive Chef concerning special items to obtain additional direction and/or provide feedback on new recipes. Reports supply shortages to Purchasing in order to maintain appropriate level of supplies.Evaluates baking operations and makes recommendations to improve services.Inspect ingredients and supplies to ensure they meet departmental requirements. Reports spoiled, unattractive food items, or other unusual conditions to supervisor.Company Description

QualificationsSix months to one year experience in commercial or institutional baking, preparing a variety of baked goods which may include cakes, muffins, and pastries is required.Demonstrated knowledge of baking methods and procedures, baking equipment, and operating commercial ovens.Ability to read and speak English, paying close attention to recipes to ensure the correct amount of ingredients are used.Effective verbal communication skills are necessary in greeting patients and cafeteria customers.Additional Information
