ABOUT THE ROLE

\n

As a Materials Test Engineer, you will interface with multiple functional groups and engineering levels across the Greer site as well as other Honeywell locations. In this role, you will also look for ways to continually improve lab processes while still maintaining the quality and integrity of the process. You will act as the site knowledge expert for metallurgical testing, metallography, and other metallurgical issues relating to coatings such as diffusion, metallic, and thermal barrier coatings. By analyzing test results, you will provide valuable insights and recommendations for product improvements, contributing to the overall enhancement of our solutions. Your technical guidance and support will empower the test engineers in your team to excel in their roles and deliver high-quality results.

You will report directly to our Sr Engineering Supervisor. You will work out of our Greer location and will be 100% onsite. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

\n\nDaily testing requirements, SCA/audit focal, maintaining lab procedures, and developing a vision for the future of the lab\nProficient in using metallurgical sample preparation equipment, SEM, and optical microscopy\nMaintain laboratory standard work procedures and ensure testing is performed according to standard procedures\nDevelop a working knowledge of plating processes and thoughtful chemistry to provide back-up in this area\nLead and coordinate the testing activities for assigned projects\nDevelop and execute test plans and procedures\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to define test requirements and specifications\nAnalyze test results and provide recommendations for product improvements\nProvide technical guidance and support to test engineers\n\nU.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS\n

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization.

MUST HAVE

\n\nBachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics.\n2 years of applicable industry experience as a lab/materials engineer\n

\n\nBachelors Degree in Materials Science or Metallurgy; other engineering disciplines will be considered with appropriate experience\nDirect experience with metallography\nDirect experience with coatings/coating processes (diffusion, metallic thermal barrier)\nExperience with laboratory quality system and audit processes\nExcellent communication skills – verbal and written\nStrong computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel and Word\nThrives in a dynamic and changing environment\nAbility to work with a team to complete daily tasks\nAttention to detail\nWorks independently with minimal direction\n
