Job Summary: The Material Project / Process Improvement Leader is responsible for driving transformational change through the use of Lean and Six Sigma tools within the factory. This position is expected to lead efforts to compress cycle times, improve inventory turns, improve service and reduce waste in all Materials processes. In addition, this position will regularly interface with suppliers, global procurement, operations, hourly plant personnel, engineering, finance, and plant leadership. This is the primary communication link between leadership project teams. This Leader works with both project and leadership teams to deliver projects on schedule and on budget, identifies potential risks and develops options during the course of the project.

Responsibilities:
Lead site Rapid Improvement Events that focus on Materials Management processesAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneously, including ownership of material flow projects and support of engineering projectsDevelop and manage the reporting system that compares gaps to what is normal and publish explanations for variancesUtilize six sigma and lean manufacturing tools to identify service, cash, and/or cost savings opportunitiesWork with the Materials Manager to develop and prioritize a project pipelineProvide materials project leadership for activities such as flow cell implementation, Supplier Transitions, VA/VE, footprint transitionsPlan for the development of the staff by organizing training sessionsIdentify total cost and cash flow opportunities with suppliersOther duties may be assignedTeam Responsibilities:
Document what is normal state and identify actions to correct abnormal conditionsDevelop, implement and drive adherence to standard work as set by the materials council across the functionsDrive continuous improvement activities by establishing and executing a daily materials Gemba walk in all functional areasLead material processes associated with new flow cell implementation, acting as key point of contact and liaison between project teams and materials teamsDrive material operational excellence daily by identifying and improving inventory accuracy, material replenishment flow and organization through the use of Plan For Every Part (PFEP), production loading and scheduling, materials ordering, supplier management and system utilizationIdentify Productivity and implement cost reduction/productivity projects to meet the corporate initiatives. Maintain pipeline and financial records for reporting and tracking productivityQualifications:
BA/BS degree requiredAPICS (CPIM) certification preferredConsiderable knowledge of industry related supply baseAble to provide direction and training to peers as needed.Computer proficient with ERPData access/retrieval skills with extensive experience in data analysis, data manipulation using MS Excel and/or other tools as provided.Basic mathematical skillsExperience with rate based or flow line (non-MRP) and job shop manufacturing environments.Experience in operations, inventory management, MRP and lean manufacturing processes and visual management systems.Key Competencies:

Compensation:
Base Pay Range: $ 90,000 - $115,000
Total compensation for this role will include a commission/incentive plan. Disclaimer: This base pay range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed.
