Our summer intern experience is designed to provide students with a challenging and meaningful internship to gain valuable hands-on experience. All students in the program will be given a project with clear learning objectives and desired outcomes. At the conclusion of the internship,each intern willhave the opportunity to present their summer project to leadership. Interns will also have exposure to other areas of 3D Systems to learn about all of our solutions. You will be given the opportunity to network with other interns and colleagues at 3D Systems including our senior leaders. *Responsibilities:* Participate in the development of next generation materials and print processes for industrial additive manufacturing (3D printing). Projects may involve working with photopolymers (stereolithography or DLP projection) or polymer powders (selective laser sintering). The print process development team is part of the materials development group and plays a critical role in the integration of various system components, including hardware, software, and materialsAn ideal candidate must be a self-starter, team player, and able to change priorities quickly in a dynamic work environment.  Should be comfortable working in a lab environment withappropriatesafetyprocedures and protective equipment. * Conduct daily hands-on research and development with 3D printers; this is primarily an in-lab position. * Responsibilities will include designing experiments, setting up print jobs in various software programs, learning to run a variety of types of 3D printers,cleaningand post-processing parts, and analyzing both qualitative print quality and quantitative data * Working together with your engineering mentor toidentifymain process parameters (inputs) and systemically study how they affect printer outputs (both quantitative and qualitative). * Conduct formal DOE studies and statistical data analysis using tools such as Excel,JMP, Minitab,QuantumXL, etc. * Summarize data and create reports for both technical teams and senior/executive management. * Depending on educational background, participation in chemistry formulation and synthesis may also be possible *Experience Required:* * Undergraduate candidates working towards a degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Physics,Mathematicsor a related disciplineExperience with engineering software such as Excel or more advanced programs such as JMP or Minitab isrequired * Hands on experience with some form of 3D printing is preferred. * Prior completion of a statistics or design of experiments course and experience with statistical modeling is preferred * Direct, hands-on experience working in a laboratory setting *Qualifications for the Intern Program:* * Ability to work 40 hours per week in the specified location from May to August. * Reside within a commutable distance from facility.
