Material Handler
As a Material Handler you will be responsible for loading, unloading, processing and storing hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials at a permitted waste treatment facility with supervision.\n
Essential Functions & Requirements: \n\nPrioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices at all times\nLoads, unloads and processes solid and liquid waste safely in accordance with Company, federal, state and local regulations\/rules\nOperates a fork truck and Bob Cat with attachments as well as brooms, shovels, production machines, palletizers, tractor, ladders and stairs\nAttaches appropriate labels and tags to products and packages\nPacks finished goods into correct packages, pails and lace finished goods on designated pallets\nDirects liquid waste through a system of pumps to tanks for storage\nPerforms basic spill cleanup and housekeeping duties as directed\nPerforms chemical compatibility checks to prevent reactions and other issues\nUtilizes barcode system equipment to document certain inventory activities\nReviews laboratory data to determine proper handling and disposal of materials\nUtilizes Department of Transportation (DOT) knowledge to match and label inbound materials and for storage and shipping of containers to other sites\nUses proper equipment to remove samples of materials for analysis and compatibility checks\nOperates a hydraulic bailer for cardboard and other materials\nKeeps operating areas, walls, pipes and floor in a clean and safe condition\nUtilizes knowledge of applicable EPA, DOT, OSHA and permit regulations\nMaintains an understanding of Heritage Coding and labeling systems to handle and manage containers\nSafely and appropriately utilizes personal protection equipment (PPE), such as Boots, Gloves, Suits, Eye\/Ear Protection and Respirator\nTakes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization\n\n
Education:\n\nHigh-school diploma or equivalent (preferred); one year of steady work history may be substituted\n24\/40 hour HAZWOPER Certification (preferred)\n\n
Experience: \n\n1+ years of related experience (preferred) \n\n
Competencies: \n\nAbility to develop a working knowledge of EPA, DOT and OSHA regulations, along with general industry practices\nAbility to work cohesively as part of a team \nAbility to lift up to 75lbs in an outdoor environment during a 12-hour shift\nAbility to wear full personal protective equipment (PPE), including a respirator \nRegular and predictable attendance to perform the functions and requirements of this role \n\n
