Job Description

 This position will support all production operations to optimize output and minimize waste while maintaining excellent quality and safety standards.  Responsible for the timely delivery and pick-up of material, to the production areas to meet scheduling and production needs to achieve production standards aligned with plant goals. Adhere to plant processes, safe operating methods, and good housekeeping standards.

Job Dimensions:

Part of AF Mundelein Production TeamHourly non-exempt, no direct reports.Schedule:  Rotating 12 hour shift – 6:00am-6:00 pm. Must be available on alternating weekends and some holidays.

Principal Accountabilities:

Package and wrap Finished Goods to specific Customer requirementsIssue and receive raw and sub-assembly material to production floorProvide rollstock and pallets to production floorAssemble, monitor, and weigh production generated scrap gaylordsDemonstrate the proper use of a lift truck and maintain forklift license certificationDeliver and return material substrates to the production equipment to meet scheduling and order requirements as needed.Unload plant suppliesDemonstrates effective interactive skills to support production and scheduling activities related to meet customer needs/requirement, and plant goals

Qualifications/Requirements

Knowledge & Experience:

Bringing the correct manufacturing material to the lineReturning material to the correct storage location & properly labelling when applicablePutting subassemblies away in the racks and properly status product and baysMaintaining corrugate returns and recyclables

Education & Certifications:

High school diploma or GED, Associates Degree and/or industrial certification preferred

Skills/Abilities/Behaviours:

Good computer skillsAble to work well with others / self-motivatedStrong mechanical skills Strong Attendance and Safety RecordAbility to stand and walk for majority of a 12 hour rotating shiftAbility to read and speak EnglishAbility to follow verbal and written directions

Physical Demands

Physically able to lift 50 lbsAble to operate heavy machinery continuouslyStanding up to 12 hours per day on a rotating day or evening shift, up to 5 days per weekAble to drive a forklift (stand-up and sit-down) for up to 12 hours per dayOccasional twisting, turning, or bending to move items up to 50 lbsAlert state of mind to avoid safety hazards

Work Environment

Job is performed near moving mechanical parts and occasionally in high, precarious places. This position requires the use of eye protection, hair net, and hearing protection in designated areas. When handling a sharp object or tool a cut glove must be worn per safety requirements. Other required PPE is task specific.  GMP procedures are observed in all areas of the plant.
