Job Description

Rubber compounding at ContiTech allows us to create distinctive products for our original equipment customers for electric, hybrid and conventional cars. This plays a pivotal role in the automotive industry’s shift towards greater sustainability.

Our Material Developers Rubber (m/f/diverse) are an integral part of the material development group and are members of the global R&D organization. They collaborate with our suppliers to develop premium rubber compounds and sustainable products for the automotive industry, working alongside with application engineering, product and process development and testing teams.

Our Material Developers Rubber (m/f/diverse) are deeply involved in the customer-centric development process within the business area of Original Equipment Solutions (OESL). They participate in our customer programs from the initial request for quotation through to the serial phase.

Your tasks will focus on the following activities:

Development of new rubber compounds according to customer specifications to ensure technology leadership of OESLLeading material development projects and drive cost reduction topicsBeing part of a global acting team of material specialists and supporting locations all around the world on all material-related mattersClose exchange with internal and external customers to understand the market requirements and to discuss compound approvalsMaterial ownership for our existing compound portfolio with constant improvement regarding material properties and sustainabilityStrong interaction with internal and external suppliers to evaluate and approve new raw materialsPrepare test plans and create lab orders for physical and chemical material testingInnovating and/or creating solutions to support our corporate sustainability strategyCollaboration with other departments and build up knowledge to work as expert for all material related questionsBe part of a global acting team of material specialists and support locations all around the world

QualificationsAcademic degree in rubber/polymer technology, chemistry or similar field of studySeveral years experience in rubber or polymer development preferably in automotive industryKnow-how and experienced in project managementVery good English and good German language skills written and spokenRigorous, analytical skills, autonomy, good interpersonal skills, diplomacy, open-mindedness and communication skillsYou like working together with people from other cultures all around the globeWillingness to travel (10-20%)
