Master Scheduler
Job TitleMaster Scheduler Job Description The Master Scheduler will assist in identifying jobs that will be processed next in the manufacturing process. This role requires an understanding of scheduling tools in the ERP system (Infor) and the development of system constraints to better schedule in a custom metal fabrication environment. The objective for the Master Scheduler is to develop automated systems and processes that will prioritize and schedule work, including communication of critical information to necessary departments. Responsibilities: + Assume full responsibility for managing the manufacturing schedule. + Schedule custom metal fabrication orders in a timely and efficient manner to be processed and completed on time for customers. + Stay informed on all new orders and integrate special needs information into the schedule, including long-lead materials, rush materials, special sub-out work with lead times, vendor commitments, and customer needs versus due dates. + Develop and maintain spreadsheets that provide information on job status, workers assigned, priority, etc., and communicate to necessary personnel. + Keep Plant Manager and General Manager informed on any issues or conflicts that arise based on assignments, such as department work schedules, previously assigned top priority jobs, and issues with completing work due to lack of customer or Salesperson information. + Respond to any job status requests by customers through Sales or Project Management. Interact with Plant Manager and General Manager to determine the sequence in which given fabrication work must occur. + Update any scheduling tools being used to track jobs, projects, or services and communicate to necessary personnel when updates are complete. Communicate known scheduling conflicts to Plant Manager and Operations Manager for actions to be taken, if any. + Assist in informing purchasing of any special material or service needed to be expedited prior to job being planned and released. + Inform Plant Manager and Shop Supervisors of any special actions needed by them based on new orders. + Inform Inspection Supervisor or Quality Manager which jobs will be coming to Inspection that day that need to be top priority. + Keep the purchasing department and Inspection Supervisor informed on the status of any jobs being expedited with vendors. + Manage the Change Order process to update information and coordinate with manufacturing managers and Shop Supervisors to execute them. Skills and Qualifications Required + A Bachelor’s Degree with 4+ years scheduling experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred. An Associate Degree with 6+ years scheduling experience in a manufacturing environment in lieu of either above mentioned degree + Ability to work in a fast paced environment and contribute performance-based solutions is required. + Experience in a metal manufacturing/fabrication business is desired. + Knowledge of metal and fabrication materials including, but not limited to, fasteners, hardware and metal finishes. + Knowledge of engineering drawing packages, file formats, and conversion of. + Strong work ethic with flexible working schedule to support projects and second shift requests when needed.
