Master Electrician
The **Light Construction Crew (LCC) Master Electrician** is based at the BDSC Amentum site in Iraq and serves the Operations and Maintenance Support Services (OMSS) contract in support of the U.S. Department of State. The LCC Master Electrician performs a variety of electrical trade functions such as design, inspection, installation, repair, and replacement of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy. This is a technical position based in Iraq. The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive. **DUTIES:** + Supervises a staff of American and Foreign Nationals. + Performs electrical work in accordance with NFPA 70E _Electrical Safety in the Workplace,_ to include Lockout Tagout procedures and Energized Electrical Work permitting. + Serves as the subject matter expert concerning LCC electrical systems designed to the National Electrical Code and/or British Standards for low (≤1000 volts≤1000 volts) and medium voltages (≤15,000 volts≤15,000 volts). + Prepares electrical Technical Inspection (TI) documentation for buildings and electrical distribution systems, trains electricians in the performance of TI, reviews field documents for code compliance and electrical hazards, and completes a final TI Report. + Designs, inspects, installs, replaces, and repairs a variety of electrical systems, equipment, and components: generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, etc. + Interprets, reviews, and uses blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications. + Performs testing, troubleshooting, and diagnostics using a variety of equipment such as electrical Multi-meters, Fluke 1653B Installation Test Meters, Underground Line Locators, and other instruments. + Completes reports and performs administrative duties. + Assumes facility custodianship of work area. + Manages tools, equipment, and materials for the electrical shop. + Performs other duties and special projects as assigned. **REQUIRED:** **Minimum Acceptable Experience Level:** + Must have 5 years of supervising experience for electrical construction. + Must have 3 years as a Master Electrician licensed for NFPA 70 NEC. + Must have experience working with British Standards 7671 wiring regulations. + Experience working on comparable overseas USG contracts in austere remote environments such as Polar Services, LOGCAP, AFCAP or USG FMS programs. + Valid heavy truck drivers’ license from Home of Record (CDL). + Master Electrician License or Certification issued through the candidate’s Home of Record State. **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:** + Knowledgeable in both low voltage (≤1000 Volts≤1000 Volts) and medium voltage (≤15 kiloVolts≤15 kilo Volts) electrical installations, alterations, troubleshooting, and analysis. + Knowledgeable in electrical design concepts and calculations. + Knowledge of NFPA 70E work practices. + Skills to develop electrical construction projects to include organization, progress tracking, reporting, and control tools. + Skills to analyze electrical code nonconformance and assess the associated electrical hazards and risk. + Skills to develop labor and material estimates for electrical construction projects. + Ability to work in a fast-paced environment demanding multi-tasking and rapid adaptation to changing priorities and schedules. **Education:** A High School Diploma or GED. **Passport, Licenses, and Certifications:** + As part of pre-contingency requirements, by the time the visa process starts, candidates must possess a valid passport of home country with a minimum of 18 months remaining to expiration date with 8 blank pages. + Valid heavy truck drivers’ license from Home of Record (CDL). + Valid driver’s license from Home of Record. + Master Electrician License or Certification issued through the candidate’s Home of Record State. **Security Vetting:** Already possess an active DoD or DoS Secret clearance or be able to obtain a favorable Secret clearance prior to being hired. Must maintain eligibility for the duration of the contract. **Language Skills:** Satisfactory English proficiency to meet job requirements and to adhere and comply with safety, health, and security measures. **Medical:** Successfully complete and pass the medical and dental examinations as required by Amentum and our customer for deployment to Iraq. Must maintain physical and dental requirements for duration of deployment. **OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:** + Ability to innovate and work as an agent for change. + Ability to become an active and functioning member of a team. + Exhibit cross-cultural sensitivity with an international perspective. + Expert communication skills to facilitate and disseminate information. + Expert computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel. + Knowledge of principles and processes involved in operating and supporting electrical functions at an overseas facility. + Knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent customer services. **WORKING AND LIVING CONDITIONS:** This position may be located in a war zone, in an environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly be exposed to extreme and austere desert-like environment. Temperatures can reach 120- 130 degrees Fahrenheit/50-55 degrees Celsius during the summer months. Employees must be willing and able to perform regular job requirements in this austere, extreme environment, as well as willing and able to deploy to Iraq for extended periods. Work schedules are a minimum of 6 days per week and 10 hours per day, while some jobs have higher daily and weekly minimums. Employees must be willing and able to perform physical activities including, but not limited to, heavy lifting and moving of items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum; climbing in and out of equipment; crawling; and working outdoors. This includes being able to lift and carry 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time and being capable of running and ‘duck & cover’ during emergencies without putting oneself or others at risk.
