THE ROLE

As a member of Legends working concurrently with the San Diego State Athletics team, the Marketing Manager, is primarily responsible for driving revenue through the sale of tickets, donations, VIP experiences and premium hospitality packages for all ticketed sports at San Diego State, including but not limited to Football, Women’s Basketball, Men’s Basketball, Baseball, Softball, and Volleyball. We are seeking an experienced team member with a positive, results-oriented approach who can communicate clearly across all platforms and work diligently to ideate, plan and execute marketing strategies to drive ticket sales, generate interest, increase attendance, and drive revenue.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Collaborate with department leadership to establish annual campaign goals, and report on progress weekly. End-to-end management of simultaneous, highly targeted, digital marketing campaigns. Responsible for ideating, implementing, executing and managing strategic omnichannel marketing campaigns designed to drive revenue through ticket sales, donations, VIP experiences and premium hospitality packages to meet the financial goals of the athletic department. Oversee and assist in the creation, implementation, management and optimization of dynamic email campaigns through identifying target audiences, maintaining and updating emails lists, building and launching campaigns, and developing effective content-marketing strategies to increase subscriber lists. Collaborate with data, content and marketing team members, and agency partners to create innovative campaigns for the purposes of customer acquisition, expansion, and retention. The campaigns will leverage marketing channels including email, social media, webinars and sponsored events, paid search, display ads, retargeting and direct mail. Lead in developing audience-centric messaging and content that resonates with specific audience segments while ensuring all marketing materials are on-brand, consistent in terms of style, quality & tone, and optimized for search and user experience. Work closely with the SDSU Marketing team to strategize, develop and maintain a comprehensive content and communications calendar looking a minimum of 120 days out. Alongside the SDSU Marketing team, assist in ideating, developing and executing marketing strategies to convert audience to directly purchase and/or drive new leads through appropriate channels including but not limited to email, web and social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.). Analyze campaign performance through evaluating key measurables including Cost Associated per Lead, Online Marketing ROI (return on investment), Customer Conversion Rates, ROAS (return on ad spend), Cost Per Acquisition (CPA), web traffic and more. Leverage campaign and audience insights to influence new, innovative approaches to reach our target audiences and develop brand awareness. Analyze and audit the e-commerce experience to enhance the consumer journey and optimize for ticket and fundraising revenue through assessing site designs, click paths, ticket delivery and more. Work closely alongside Affinaquest, our data management and analytics partner, to leverage data insights to influence current and future audience-centric sales and fundraising campaigns. Must illustrate strong interpersonal skills to gain consensus for planned campaigns, negotiate tight deadlines and unite teams with a single campaign vision and voice. They must have excellent written communication skills, exceptional proofreading and editing skills, and a high level of understanding of marketing messaging. Experience in building and integrating marketing teams and programs is a must. Strong digital marketing experience is required, including experience using tools like Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Google Analytics, HubSpot, Sprout Social and others. This talented, creative, and driven marketer can easily manage multiple campaigns at once, adhering to deadlines and meeting and exceeding all campaign goals. Responsible for the leadership, training, coaching, performance, and evaluation of the Legends marketing staff. This individual will work closely and under the direction of the Deputy Athletic Director, Revenue Generation, the Deputy Athletic Director for Strategic Communications and Brand Advancement, and the Legends Project Leader. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent 4+ years in marketing and marketing related field at a digital marketing agency or a brand heavily engaged in digital conversion. Experience overseeing a marketing staff is preferred. Ability to prioritize and meet competing deadlines independently. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, while remaining organized, efficient, and calm under pressure Proven experience planning and implementing strategic and targeted marketing campaigns is required. Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Possesses effective project management skills. Competitive salary $70,000 - $75,000, commensurate with experience, and a generous benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, paid vacation, and 401k plan.
