Marketing Assistant + Job Number: 24875 + Functional Area: Publishing + Department: MIT Press + School Area: Libraries, MIT Press, Tech Review + Employment Type: Full-Time + Employment Category: Non-Exempt + Visa Sponsorship Available: No + Schedule: Email a Friend Save Save Apply Now Posting Description MARKETING ASSISTANT, MIT Press, to provide overall administrative support for the Marketing Department; assist in communications/marketing activities, events, and campaigns such as supporting logistics, gathering marketing materials, metadata entry into title management systems, disseminating reviews and seasonal updates, maintaining the communications contact list and updating information on contacts for specific subject areas, newsletters, and email blasts; monitor and maintain departmental web pages; maintain, source, and upload image and text files into digital asset management; provide administrative support to the department including mailings, email triaging and response, facilitating review copy distribution, collecting and submitting invoices, creating purchase orders, and interfacing with vendors in the production and implementation of marketing campaigns; oversee submission of titles to industry trade media for notification and potential review (Publishers Weekly, Kirkus Reviews, Library Journal, Booklist, Shelf Awareness, Foreword Reviews; Choice); and participate and assist in seasonal scheduling and planning, including distributing marketing materials, circulating marketing plans, and scheduling departmental meetings. Job Requirements REQUIRED: High school diploma or equivalent; a minimum of two years of administrative experience; solid organizational and verbal and written communication skills; and the ability to convey routine, prescribed information to others. PREFERRED: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a related field; experience, degree, or interest in publishing and/or marketing; proficiency with programs like Microsoft Office, including Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Airtable, FileMaker; and experience with professional title management systems like Penguin Random House’s MyHouse and/or Biblio.
