here Job Summary The Division of Workforce Partnerships is looking for maritime instructors to teach their proprietary Electric Boat workforce trainings CCRI is seeking maritime professionals preferably with some teaching experience to join the academic team at our Westerly satellite location on a year round part time basis The instructor will be responsible for all learning outcomes of our programs and will focus on student development and preparation for the process technology industry The instructor will work side by side with teacher assistants and program leadership to ensure that courses have successful outcomes and that students receive a high quality education This role is in response to employer demand and can include day evening andor weekend hours The maritime trades instructor will be responsible for communicating what shifts they are available to work and ensuring that they are able to work all classes that they agree to instruct Duties and Responsibilities Work collaboratively in a diverse inclusive and student centered environment with students of various learning styles cultures identities and life experiences Communicate class content utilizing a variety of teaching methods so that learning occurs skills are developed and students are motivated to learn and achieve their educational and employment objectives Deliver effective lesson plans and provide supplemental material to achieve course objectives and address student needs Integrate technology and active learning strategies to enhance instruction Keep detailed and organized records of students attendance assessments and progress including a final evaluation Work creatively in all classes taught to discourage student withdrawal and maintain satisfactory retention Understand the Americans with Disabilities Act ADA and adhere to CCRIs policies and procedures for responding to student requests for accommodations Assist in keeping organized records of students attendance assessments and progress including a final evaluation Collaborate with the program coordinators and other instructors in the training and attend meetings as needed Demonstrate a commitment to professional development Maintain a safe and clean work environment Ensure all tools and tool bags are being properly maintained and checked in checked out to avoid tool loss Attend regular instructor training minimum of 2 per year Perform other duties as assigned Minimum Requirements Experience in a trade environment andor education shop environment for a minimum of 5 years Experience in either traditional instruction peer training or on the job mentoring Highly proficient in the use of technology including Microsoft Office Suite applications Word Excel and PowerPoint primarily email and the internet for instruction and program purposes Interest in preparing and training the next generation of entry level maritime employees Intermediate digital communication technology skills presentation tools online meetings etc Experience with classroomteam management Excellent written and oral communication skills Creativity and flexibility in the classroom are expected Competencies Experience teaching in adult education settings At least 5 years experience working for Electric Boat Experience in the pipefitting electrical sheet metal painting rigging mechanical STO or electrical STO trades Experience working with a diverse student population Knowledge of successful strategies for classroom management Teaching experience in similar post secondary programs Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of teaching and learning theory life skills and college and career readiness curricula for adult populations Reports To Westerly Satellite Program Coordinator amp Maritime Trades Program Coordinators Campus Location Satellite Campus Full timePart time Part Time Shift Days and Additional Work Schedule Information Availability for 1st shift and 2nd shift Mondays through Fridays Work Schedule Other Benefits No SalaryHourly Rate Part Time hourly rate starts at 4880 Additional Salary Information Licenses Tools and Equipment Will be expected to operate and safely oversee the use of heavy machinery
