We are seeking a Logistics Engineer to join the Engineering and Test Group (KME) in the Force Projection (FPS) Sector to leverage advanced analysis techniques and emerging technologies to revolutionize the US Navy’s logistics operations and infrastructure. Our team works to develop innovative solutions to support our deployed forces. We conduct engineering development, test planning, and execution of at-sea test experiments and design prototypes and one-of-a kind systems that are on the cutting edge of maritime sensors. Our team creates, builds and sea-tests novel electro/mechanical sensor systems for our Navy sponsors that enable groundbreaking capabilities in Anti-Submarine Warfare. Utilize advanced analysis techniques and algorithms to support novel distribution and supply-chain network studies, and develop strategies to achieve operational availability Design at-sea experiments and field tests including overseeing Navy Platform participation and determining systems to be developed, integrated and transported to Navy test sites. Work with APL procurements and subcontracting office to secure local supplies and vessel rentals as needed Establish material procurement, staging, assembly and test work flows to manage complex prototype assemblies Lead logistics activities with internal and external teams, including both government and private industry partners Qualifications You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you... Hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical field Have professional experience with Department of Defense (DoD) logistics and acquisition programs and policies Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team and possess strong interpersonal, speaking, and technical writing skills Possess strong initiative, are self-motivated and flexible; are interested in driving to creative solutions in all areas of infrastructure and logistics Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Top Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Hold a bachelor's degree in logistics or supply chain management Have experience working with various military services to validate ILS requirements and implement logistics support plans to meet requirements Have a Logistics or Program Management certification Are familiar with reliability, maintainability, and logistics requirements as documented in DoDI 5000.02, DoDD 5000.01, and NAVINST 5000.2 Have the ability to read/interpret CAD/mechanical drawings Have experience in risk assessment/risk management practices Have experience as a project lead Hold an active Top Secret level clearance. The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
