Job Description The location of this role can be considered in both Hamburg, Germany and Limassol, Cyprus.

Candidates MUST have Senior Rank / existing cruise shore-based experience to be considered.

Job Overview: I am searching for a Marine Superintendent - Safety to join an established cruise management company. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in maritime operations, a strong commitment to safety and compliance, and the ability to support both individual vessel management and broader organizational objectives.

Qualifications: Education: Marine degree from a recognized university. Experience: Minimum three years onboard cruise ships in a Bridge Senior Officer or Safety Officer role (preferred). Skills: Strong managerial, organizational, and communication abilities. A collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively within a team. In-depth understanding of maritime operations, international regulations, standards, and guidelines. Operational expertise in cruise vessel management. Experience in auditing, risk management, and marine incident investigations (a plus). Language: Fluent in spoken and written English. Key Responsibilities: Assist the Head of Marine & Operations and Vessel Manager as required. Serve as Deputy CSO when assigned. Oversee and implement the Company Management System, ensuring compliance with policies, standards, and procedures across assigned vessels. Develop, revise, and improve operational procedures, driving continuous safety and efficiency improvements. Act as Emergency Phone Holder during designated periods, responding promptly to critical situations. Monitor assigned vessels to ensure customer satisfaction and readiness for third-party inspections. Conduct and support vessel inspections, including ISM Audits, Marine Safety Inspections, Flag State Audits, and External Audits. Track and analyze fleet safety incidents and accidents, ensuring proper investigation and reporting. Lead safety-related investigations, working with the Incident Investigation Team to determine root causes and corrective actions. Create fleet alerts and Lessons to Be Learned (LTBLs) to enhance safety awareness. Ensure timely follow-up and resolution of third-party inspection findings, closing observations within deadlines. Monitor and assess departmental KPIs and incident statistics (e.g., FAC, LTIF), identifying trends and improvement areas. Notify Flag Administrations of incidents in compliance with regulations. Evaluate crew training needs during inspections and coordinate additional ship visits with the training department. Support updates and reviews of shipboard emergency procedures and muster lists. Promote a strong safety and environmental culture within the fleet, encouraging best practices and proactive risk management. Guide Safety Officers and Safety Teams on operational procedures, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards. Assist in recruitment and professional development, including interviews, debriefings, and appraisals for seagoing personnel up to Safety Officer rank. Prepare high-quality reports and presentations for client meetings, highlighting performance metrics and operational updates. Undertake additional projects and tasks assigned by the Head of Marine & Operations, contributing to departmental strategic goals. Additional Details: This role plays a vital part in maintaining safety and operational excellence across the fleet. A proactive and detail-oriented approach is essential for driving continuous improvement and upholding the highest industry standards. Proficiency in Excel, Power BI, and data analytics is a plus.
