The **Marine Mechanic** performs maintenance and repairs to the electrical and mechanical equipment of boat and ship engines, steering mechanisms, and propellers. The engines maintained range from portable outboard Honda engines, inboard-outboard engines of somewhat larger boats, or Cummins diesel-powered engines of the largest vessels.
**Responsibilities**
+ Diagnose malfunctions on watercraft and marine boats; repair and maintain equipment in accordance with manufacturer manuals, schematic drawings, operations manuals, and manufacturer's specifications. Troubleshoot, inspect, test, repair, adjust and replace malfunctioning equipment or components.
+ Provide consultation and assist Clerk, Safety Manager, or PM with ordering parts.
+ Enter faults and corrective actions in the maintenance records and verify that all work is performed satisfactorily.
+ Adjust and make repairs to maintain operation of machines and equipment; determine cause of malfunction or defects and repair or replace worn, damaged, or defective parts.
+ Repair and install mechanical equipment aboard watercrafts, tests, repairs, and rebuilds electrical and mechanical equipment of gasoline and diesel-powered inboard and outboard engines.
+ May also be required to assist with picking up parts from vendors, using a government-provided vehicle
+ Other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**
+ High School graduate or equivalent
+ Military or civilian training in heavy equipment maintenance
+ Marine mechanic certification from an accredited school
+ Possess and maintain a current California Driver’s License
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
+ Experience with military equipment a plus.
+ Knowledge and understanding of two and four-cycle engine operation
+ Knowledge of all engine systems.
+ Ability to pass a National Agency Check (NAC) for computer access

+ While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee may use repeated motions that include the arms, wrists, hands and/or fingers. The employee is occasionally required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

**Estimated Salary/Wage**
Up to USD $41.35/Hr.
